A New York attorney indicted on charges of renting two underage girls from their mother for sex was arrested last week in Grimsby but then released.
James Colliton, 42, was picked up last Friday by Niagara Region police, the Toronto Fugitive Squad and immigration officials, Niagara Det. Sgt. Bob Jackson said yesterday.
"If the offence was in the United States, we don't have jurisdiction," said Jackson. "We don't arrest people for offences that happen (there)."
But because it was an immigration matter involving being in the country unlawfully, Colliton was taken into the custody of Canadian immigration officials.

He was in Canada while a grand jury, which announced the charges against him only yesterday, was investigating allegations he used two sisters aged 15 and 13, as prostitutes in his Manhattan apartment.
