Cops: Mom cracked baby's skull

SALEM, Ind. -- A woman told police she squeezed her 2-month-old son's head until she heard his skull crack because he wouldn't stop crying, prosecutors said.

Will we see more of this kind of thing if Roe v. Wade is reversed? I say it is very likely.

9. My sister gave me the best advice regarding crying babies

my sister is a wise mother of three ...two of them were only 18 mos apart...

she told me...

"if the baby's needs have been met, and the baby is healthy... if the diaper is dry, and the baby is fed...and your holding the baby doesn't cause the baby to stop crying...and you are growing frustrated...put the little one in the crib or the swing...and walk away...for 10 minutes...go outside....go in the bedroom......just get away for a moment and your sanity will return."

I remember my son had a terribly collicky period...and I would sometimes just put him in his crib...go take a shower and come back to find him asleep....but normally I just felt bad for him because I had no clue as to why he was so upset...

The thought of doing harm to my munchkins never crossed my mind but incessant crying apparently causes some people to lose their hold on their sanity.

Do most people really understand what Hillary meant by that? I don't think so.

It means families (whatever kind, number, etc.) should not be alone and ISOLATED in this world. My daughter had colic for almost a year. By that I mean CONSTANT crying. If she slept a hour straight, I would bow down and kiss the ground.

I was fortunate that I had a neighbor at the time (grandmother in her 50s) who told me to bring my daughter over to her ANY TIME it got too stressful. She told me to leave her there and take a walk, go shopping, or just plain take a nap. I can remember one time my daughter had a particularly bad episode (neighbor wasn't home), where I just turned on MTV as LOUD as I could so I could not hear her. Just left her to scream. I also kept dancing as fast as I could to just plain work out my own stress. Yes, it calmed me down and by then she had stopped crying and fell asleep. No, I was not a bad mother. Even her pediatrician had told me to just let her cry. She just had to grow out of it. She did when she learned how to walk and talk. She also turned into a VERY QUIET CHILD. lol I guess she got it all out of her system very early. I never had to go through the "terrible twos" with her. Actually, even her teenage years were very quiet too.

Do not think I am CONDONING what this woman did. I am not. But women must be given HELP if they cannot find ways on their own to cope. But the BEST way is to have SOMEBODY ELSE to back them up, be it family, friends, or neighbors. It DOES take a Village.

I simply shudder at the horror of reversing Roe, banning birth control, the WHOLE Fundie agenda, is going to create for women and children. It's not easy when you have a WANTED child, I cannot imagine what it would be like with an unwanted one.

in captivity and found that the only ones who killed or severely beat their babies were isolated. Mothers who lived in groups shared responsibilities and also chastized each other for aggressive behavior.

I was once isolated with two infants, no car, and my husband came home at 11 PM. My parents had just moved south to retire and we had virtually no money.

Only the grace of God kept me from losing control. My two year old was hard headed and very active. I had no experience with young children, having been the baby in the family. It was awful.
