63. My guess would be that this is just a bad episode in a borderline

womens long life. There isnt really any evidence of psychotic symptoms other than the ranting about the other family, something which can just as easily be explained as just that hysterical ranting. The combination of the religious condemnation of the "darksided" ones and the extreme emotional arousal that carry the rant does give an impression of "insanity" in the psychotic sense. But other clues lead you in a different direction:

Margaret obviously have an eating disorder, which is not uncommon in either psychotic or borderline populations.

But the kind of emotional intensity displayed is actually a very rare thing with psychotic patient and this would indicate either a borderline or manic-depressive diagnosis, only this episode is most likely triggered not by internal biological factors, which would indicate mania, but by the emotional impact of her stay out of the family, indicating borderline personality disorder.

As for the kids they are obviously very frightened, but the hysteria is not really what will hurt them most: The will get over the fear, but they will have a life of struggle after growing up with a mother who cannot act as a role-model with regards to emotional regulation skills. She will probably flood them with her own emotions on occasion, but be mostly clueless as to their emotional and other internal experiences. Not only will this mean that they dont get any educated feedback from their mother, but Margareth is probably prone to misinterpreting their responses and blame them for not respecting christianity when they just act according to natural feelings. This kind of tension on a daily basis will erode any confidence they could have about their own responses and they will have a hard time experiencing their own feelings as something real. This will be somewhat aggravated this by lack of a proper response from their father, if the shown situation is representative of his role in the family.

Most likely the kids will suppress their own emotions until a certain level of intensity is reached and then go for the most obvious strategy to get validation: stage the most spectacular outburst of hysteria that they can muster. This will probably be reinforced by a rare validation from the parents and they will adapt to a pattern of suppression + hysteria which is quite unpredictable for anyone not familiar with this dynamic. Slowly they will learn that this is a strategy that rarely will bring them anything but defeat in the rest of this world.

I grew up in a house with a schizophrenic mother. This woman's raving reminded me a lot of that time. The difference was that my dad had the good sense to get me and my brother out of the house rather quickly when my mom lost control and gave in to her fear and paranoia.

My mother's doctor advised my dad to try to keep her from getting too involved with church if possible. He said that schizophrenics, already somewhat detached from reality, cannot handle the mysticism and spirituality of religion very well. The metaphor is completely lost.

I don't know if this woman in the video is truly mentally ill or not, but I can't help but wonder if there is more to this than just being uber-Christian.

The kids and the husband know that she is insane. The woman needs
