The bungling Bush presidency is falling apart
FINALLY!!!! There it is in black and white. The moment we've all been waiting for. Whew, not too much longer now. We're almost there.

The bungling Bush presidency is falling apart
James Klurfeld

March 3, 2006

An old acquaintance in Washington - a former member of Republican administrations whose foreign policy views are decidedly hard-line - recently had this to say to a friend about the Bush administration: This might be the most inept administration in American history.

Considering some of the bozos who have served in the White House - James Buchanan and Warren Harding are two names that come to mind - that is a breathtaking statement. Considering the stakes involved with the United States, the most powerful nation in the world, it is also frightening.

<snip>

The White House said not to make too much of the tape because it doesn't reflect the totality of the president's effort on the storm. Fair enough. But over the past six months Bush has failed to react to the devastation in New Orleans except for one stage-managed speech from the French Quarter.

This is a presidency coming unraveled before our eyes. It is not a pretty sight, and it is not good for the country. What a difference a year makes. After his re-election, Bush said that he would use his political capital.

Soon he won't have any left. Then what?

1. Falling apart, yes...BUT...
...just like a tick that lies beneath the surface of the skin and must be tormented with a lit cigarette or match, he's HANGING ON.

This week, the so-called "liberal media" declared a VICTORY for Bush's India trip. He's over there talking about how outsourcing is GOOD, and no matter how much it HURTS we need to DEAL WITH IT, but what the hell...it's a "BUSH VICTORY."

Bush still has his BASE.

Bush still has a compliant MEDIA.

The fat lady hasn't sung. Hell...she hasn;t even shown up for REHEARSALS.

The Bush Administration is on the ropes, but I see NO evidence that it is "falling apart."

:patriot:

5. Yes he's still clinging to power, and has every intention to do so for 3
more years... at least.

8. Absolutely correct.
As much as I'd like to see him and his entire administration go down in flames, we need to remember one thing:

DUers can high-five and woo-hoo all they'd like...this man is NOT Richard Nixon.

This man WILL NOT RESIGN IN SHAME.

He's already been CAUGHT "red-handed"...what the hell is it going to take for him to pay the piper?

The answer: NOTHING.

He will have to be caught in something SO BAD that NO ONE...his "base," his fucking WIFE, his MOMMY...NO ONE will stand up in his defense.

Until then, work toward 2008, and don't expect this asshole to go ANYWHERE.

2. then he declares that his NSA has found a wide-spread conspiracy seeking
to destroy america and that he has the power, no, he must take control in order to save our country.
watch false trials, a lack of access to counsel, hidden witnesses, threatened judges, and more.

Watch for this to become a police state. Watch explosions in schools set by administration sneaks, and blamed on this conspiracy. Watch this become a police state.

he won't need political capital then. He will have police and military capital.

There is no capital to be had. The pubs are scrambling, anyone up for re-election is putting distance between themselves and* ( tricky Ricky included, what a snake!) The repositioning of McCain to step into the power vacuum is interesting, it tells me that if * is to be impeached, it may well come from the pubs themselves.
On edit; It's also interesting to see that we're not seeing Roves hand in this. Where' his snake oil when * needs it?

4. Bungling is a euphemism. GOP/Neocons are not into "good government".
They sit at the piano in black cape, and play off-key songs by smashing the key & chords - as the world degenerates into mayhem.

7. Good thing there aren't very many of them in the world
because it's time to clean house.

Most people are good and decent and most people want to do the right thing. BushCo's time is up. They're leaving behind a major mess but I think there's enough talent and energy left in us to turn this ship around.

9. I remember after 9/11 - thinking - America will handle this. They will
gather their best minds and take the most brilliant actions. People from inside and outside government will come together. From across political divides. And that the responce would be sober and brilliant and something all the west could be proud of. That they would handle 9/11 with compassion and brilliance.

Boy was I wrong.

10. That's what would have happened
if Gore was in the WH that day.

The reaction and response would have been night and day.

11. And the USA would have taken the opportunity to teach something
valuable to the world. To share some love. To transcend the destruction and build a better relationship to all those in poor places who might be angry.

Instead they teach carelessness.

12. Part of me wants to just say "So what? The damage is already done."

With the economy, supreme court, etc.
