Wow! Terry Gainer former Chi-top cop stepping down from DC position
Without warning and without reason, Terrence Gainer (who left chicago's top spot to take over DC's top spot) up and quit his job.

This is incredible. I can't wait for the story to come out.

This was broadcast on CNN just now.

2. he was respected in Chicago, and his sudden OK for the DC job was a shock
For him to leave such a high profile job, especially after 9/11, all I can think of is there must be some major bulldroppings ready to come to light.

3. Actually, he was head of the Illinois State Police
Most Chicagoans don't know this (so you might not want to spring it on 'em without sufficient prep), but Illinois and Chicago are not the same thing. Thus, the Director of the Illinois State Police is NOT "Chicago's top spot".

Don't worry though, even the governor of Illinois doesn't grasp this. He refuses to live in Springfield, which really IS the capitol of Illinois, no matter what Chicagoans say.

12. Chicago can have him
Oh, that's right...they do. He doesn't know the rest of the state exists.

11. No, everything else is Illnois
Chicago is the mistake on the lake.

As my grandfather used to say, "There's nothing wrong with Chicago that a well-trained cow and a kerosene lamp couldn't cure."

14. Not according to the Governor
or most Chicagoans. The rest of us are beneath them. Both geographically and socially.

I keep hoping they'll take this attitude to its logical conclusion and secede.

18. When I lived in Iowa
people kept asking me..."Blagojevich, Alan Keyes...WHAT is wrong with Illinois?!" I just told 'em I didn't understand it anymore than they did.

I still don't.

9. Worst cops in the world
It's the absolute worst police force you can imagine. A bunch of idiot thugs, and I suspect Gainer had no idea how bad it was when he signed on.

He's done an awful job. It's gotten even worse since he signed on.
