Incest is OK biblically - dad
27/02/2006 22:58 - (SA)

Sakhile Mokoena

Nelspruit - A man has been accused of fathering three children with his daughter after convincing his family that it was his biblical right.

The 49-year-old father has appeared in KaNyamazane magistrate's court outside Nelspruit in Mpumalanga on charges of incest.

He is accused of sleeping with his 21-year-old daughter since she was 13 and fathering her three children.

....

They believed the world was coming to an end soon.

"They had their own "church" where the father preached that a girl had to sleep with her father in order to go to heaven," said Sikhonde.

The father had his own bedroom and would allegedly call either his wife or daughter when he wanted sex.

4. Read Judith Hermann's book: Father -Daughter Incest. It is scary.
The only form of incest the Bible does not condemn is thr abuse of a daughter by her father. Reason? The daughter is his property.

17. Primetime on ABC last night did a special on polygamy here in the US

The woman who was the focus of the story was repeatedly abused by her father who thought it was OK.

*********************

Jack Cooke is now 76 years old and hasn't seen Laurene in 22 years. In an interview with "Primetime," with Laurene listening from a nearby room, Cooke admitted to abusing his daughters.

"I have committed — uh, fondling and touching my daughters improperly, but I claimed … on the same premise … as our religion," he said. "I didn't know it was abuse. I didn't view it as abuse. … It wasn't a sexual deal."

Cooke said he viewed the abuse as "no big deal." He also claimed that the contact was "consensual." "And every intimacy which I had with them, they understood perfectly that if I did anything they didn't like, to tell me and I would not do it," Cooke said.

12. the bible also calls for stoning your neighbor
for things that are legal these days. i forget the exact "crimes". there was a great rundown going around the internet as a dr. laura retort, and an early season of the west wing had a similar presidential rant to a dr. laura stand-in.

despite what the fundies might say, the bible (and the 10 commandments) is NOT the law of the land, nor are they even the foundation of our laws. at the most, it is just one of many sets of laws and principles that our current set of laws was inspired by.

18. Nor does the Bible condone incest anyway
The Bible conclusively bans incest in multiple places and alludes that incest was one of the greatest crimes of the peoples the Israelites expelled from the holy land.

15. The bible doesn't condemn it
Lot had a son by each of his two surviving daughters after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 19:30-38. Both sons went on to become tribal leaders. The story says Lot was too drunk to know what he was doing. It's been my experience that when you're too drunk to know what you're doing, you can't do it. I also wonder who grabbed the wine as they were fleeing for their lives.
