Jobs: Now You See Them, Now You Don't

Greg LeRoy, executive director of Good Jobs First , a re source center for grassroots groups and public officials, recently authored The Great American Jobs Scam: Corporate Tax Dodging and the Myth of Job Creation .

LeRoy shares some of his findings with us.

Workers and taxpayers often lose twice when states and cities give out huge corporate tax breaks in the name of “economic development.”

1. Have to agree with you--

we had a huge corporate-driven situation. The corporation was always trying to hold the decision-makers over a barrel--breaks for this, build that, if you don't we'll have to.......and on and on. The corporation is pretty much gone now--but we are still getting the same types of arguments from pro-development people.

Hungry people are more cooperative than fat and sassy ones...
Corporations come in and use your city's services, not to mention what they do to your environment and your so hungry for jobs you agree to it, and pay them to do it...
