State bill proposes Christianity be Missouri’s official religion

Missouri legislators in Jefferson City considered a bill that would name Christianity the state's official "majority" religion.

House Concurrent Resolution 13 has is pending in the state legislature.

Many Missouri residents had not heard about the bill until Thursday.

Karen Aroesty of the Anti-defamation league, along with other watch-groups, began a letter writing and email campaign to stop the resolution.

The resolution would recognize "a Christian god," and it would not protect minority religions, but "protect the majority's right to express their religious beliefs.

This is disgusting beyond words. If enacted, I'm hoping that the ACLU will take the state of Missouri to court over this travesty.

3. If this is what legislators are left doing then they are no longer...

needed. I am so sick of the laws and resolutions passed or considered in all levels of government, in all states. We have so many laws and resolutions as it is, these officials are running out of ideas and are now considering something as ridiculous as naming an official religion. I am convinced legislators at every level are sadistic in nature. They sit around seeing what they can muster up to make our lives as miserable as possible. We don't need them anymore. Lets downsize legislative bodies at all levels.

4. What is Christianity?

There are many religions out there -- the Mormons, for instance -- who aren't considered Christians by many of the older denominations, even though the Mormons call themselves Christians. Is Santeria a Christian practice? You know, I kind of hope this bill goes through, just so the rest of America can see what happens when the government passes idiotic laws like this.
