Dubai & Dubya in dash for lifeboat-Bush Urges Port Co To Get U.S. Partner!
Dubai & Dubya in dash for lifeboat

Bush team urges firm to get a U.S. partner

BY THOMAS T. DeFRANK and KENNETH R. BAZINET
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - The White House is quietly pushing a Dubai company to "significantly restructure" and partner up with a U.S. outfit to keep the port deal from sinking, sources told the Daily News yesterday.
"It's in the hands of the company now. ... They're going to have to significantly restructure," said a Republican source familiar with White House expectations.

A revamped deal to allow Dubai Ports World to take over six major U.S. ports - including Manhattan's cruise ship terminal and Newark's container depot - would have to be something along the lines of the Marine One contract.

British- and Italian-owned AgustaWestland had to take on Maryland-based Lockheed Martin to win the contract to build the President's helicopter last year.

"A lot of people are talking about this, a subsidiary or a deal like that," a congressional source confirmed.

One snag to such a deal may be that sources say the U.S. company best equipped to partner with DP World is Halliburton, once headed by Vice President Cheney.

2. Friken smoke and mirrors!!!!!
Slap a cheap coat of whitewash on it, and all is well!!!

Bottom line, though: classified port operations materials will STILL find their way to Dubai.

Will records STILL be kept offshore???

And Halliburton....damn, icing on the hypocrisy cake!

8. What's worse, if it's a connected American corporation, we're going
to create that scenario that Sibel Edmonds is dealing with. Corporations that are going to get special protection from our intelligence agencies.

3. Has any one bothereed to ask....
.... why is the President of the US trying to ramrod this deal through. Is this part of his executive duties? Who benefits from these actions? Why aren't these common sense questions being asked?

5. Was thinking about this last night-Maybe Blackmail is involved
Since Bush started out owing the Saudis and has a lot to hide over time about his dealings with Saudis and UAE, maybe he's being squeezed.

6. This was all for HALLIBURTON
No wonder Lou Dobbs became so righteous.

If BushCo just gave the ports to HALLIBURTON to begin with, then there would have been a big stink. Now, it will be hailed has the only viable solution.

It's all smoke and mirrors with these bastards. Sorry, the deal still sucks.

7. Why the f*ck doesn't Bush preside over the UAE since he's so concerned
About their well-being? He sure as shit isn't doing anything for Americans!

I guess the UAE doesn't want him, either.
