Why Don't Repugs Have An OBVIOUS 2008 Prez Candidate, And We "Do"?
At least it seems like they talk on the MSM" a lot more about Democratic 2008 candidates than they do about repugs. What's up?

1. I don't think anything's "up". This is typically what happens.
Going back as far as I can remember, it was often a mystery who either side would put up when we were still 2 years away.

10. Exactly how I feel
"What's up with that?" is the question we should all be asking.

3. The corporate media wants hillary
as do the repukes. They've been working for years to make her seem inevitable. I wonder why?:sarcasm: I'm sure they just have our best interest at heart, right?

4. They do
Obviously many things can change between now and 2008, but at the moment McCain and Clinton are clear front runners, and of the two I'd place greater odds on McCain than Clinton of winning their party's nomination.

Again, for those who disagree, I said many things can change. Whether the far right opposes McCain and whether they can stop him are big questions. At the moment I think he is well on his way to neutralizing opposition from the far right. After all, he is hardly the moderate the media portrays him as.

It might also limit GOP discussion of 2008 candidates as their top candidates after McCain are not as well known.

14. I agree with your assessment re: McCain
There was a reason for that sweaty embrace, that cake eating, and all of those disgusting pictures.

And if Cheney suddenly resigns and McCain replaces him, well, he is then the heir apparent.

The only question is who will be his number two? Can he stand Allen on the ticket with him? Certainly a more malleable running mate than someone like "shoot off yer mouth" Giuliani...and he will need relative youth, to balance his age, seeing as he was born in 1936.

15. Way too early to guess on running mate
While I consider McCain the front runner, it is far from certain he will win the nomination. I'll wait until then to predict any potential running mates.

Predicting running mate this far out can be even harder than picking Presidential nominee as it ultimately comes down to the choice of one person. Will it be based upon political compatability, or achieving ideological balance? Will it be done based upon electoral vote strategy? Maybe it will even come down to the advice of the person picked to head up the VP search :) .

Giuliani is definately a possibility if McCain has the party well under control and can choose based upon electoral strategy. Giuliani's post 9/11 reputation will give a McCain/Giuliani ticket the appearance of strength. Giuliani would also help with votes in a major blue state, and might help them win over moderates.

On the other hand, if McCain is having trouble keeping the religious right in line he might need to use the VP spot to please them. That makes Allen a possibility, although a less prominent person who isn't a true Presidential contender could also be an option for the # 2 spot.

17. Guiliani would totally turn the fundies off--three wives, and then there's
the prostate business...can't have two old bald guys with cancer histories on the ticket. Also, Giuliani doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut. If he sees a spotlight, he automatically assumes it's for him....!!

The same people who like Guiliani also tend to like McCain, so for southern and fundie flavor, Allen is a strong choice. Of course, if we do end up with a woman running for president on our ticket, he may toss a female on the back end just to compete with the concept....

18. There's always McCain/Rice
I agree it is too soon, but probably the deal was: Hug Bush in 04 and don't say anything good about Kerry. We'll give you our nasty little Rove, but you have to take Condi for VP.

McCain is about as clear a frontrunner as there's been for quite a while other than incumbants.

5. No doubt our team is much deeper than theirs
Our candidates won't be in prison or facing indictments. I will work hard to get General Clark nominated, if that does not happen I will support the Dem Candidate and urge him/her to ensure General Clark is part of the next administration.

23. I think Clark would be a strong SECDEF, myself
He could even handle State very credibly, though I generally don't like former military personnel in the diplomatic arena--the tension between Defense and State is actually a good thing, and when you have a former uniform in the job, it gets a bit mushy between the cabinet branches.

8. Forcing the Dem hand . . .
to know all the potential players (eliminate any real dark horse candidate)

before the RNC plays their hand of candidates.

I don't care one twit about either slate since they're all a "Millionaires' Club" tethered to military-industrial, pharma-medical, academia-testing complexes.

Even if PDA can't win the big prize political plums, they'll get any of my meager resources and precious time come 2008.

My hatred for these Demupublicans is now visceral beyond retraction.

but just from an outsiders point of view, I`d like to see Gore/Feingold or Gore/Boxer run, I think Hilary is a big mistake....Out of every politician we see, Gore just stands out a mile....

actually in all honesty, I think Spongebob would do a better job than Dumya....

just my two cents...

11. I was about to post how the 'pugs have infultrated our primary process.
Hackett/Brown was my example.

Here's why:

If Brown loses to DeWine by 2%, what will be the GOP (and Corporate Democrats') reasoning?
Brown was "too liberal."

If Hackett were to lose to DeWine by 2%, what will be the GOP (and Corporate Democrats') resoning?
"Too liberal" wouldn't hold water with as many people.

We know the real reason either way will be Diebold, but they need a seemingly legitimate reason to explain their narrow victories.

So with Hillary, or any other nominee, always see if you can come up with a reason why that nominee would lose by 2%.

Part of it is because they have the sitting president, as much as I hate to refer to the pond scum as such ... Even at that, I think the frame from the MSM is pretty clear - Hillary is the dem candidate while McCain is the next president ...

13. Well, hell, why are you believing the shit they are feeding you?
Think back to 92--even when the PRIMARY was in full swing, we did not have an obvious nominee--in fact, a lot of people thought Bob Kerrey or Paul Tsongas had the lock. And plenty were rooting for Tom Harkin, too.

Of course, EVERYONE was staring at Ross Perot.

And Bill Clinton ended up taking it. He was the hardest working guy on the platform, and he didn't quit.

Stop worrying, it is what they WANT you to do. The primaries will come, they will be brutal and interesting, and we'll know from there.

16. I will vote for the Dem whoever the majority pick. I believe that
the Pugs and the MSM have picked Hil because they have invested so much money (ours) and energy in putting Bill and her down. I think Hilary would be a very fine president; however, the pugs have slandered her so much she would have a difficult time winning even in a fair election. I am all for Gore or Clark. They are both exceptional. Feingold for VP or Boxer; both sound superb. John McCain has sold himself; he is also a warmonger. We must let the people, especially dems know that.

19. Because the voting machines are rigged, they don't even need a
candidate, but they definitely want Hillary to be ours because when she "loses" they will say that half the country didn't like her. Simple, really.
