Dennis Kucinich on House Floor: They let 9/11 happen
Something about this was posted in the 9/11 forum, but (1) it does not posit any particular conspiracy theory and (2) it is very important because a major political figure made this statement on the floor of the House.

You can get the video of Rep. Kucinich at the 9/11 blogger, here:

http://www.911blogger.com/2006/03/rep-dennis-kucinich-states-that-bush.html

Rep. Kucinich said:

I want to call to the attention of the House the juxtaposition of two news stories. One <..> relating to 9/11. It says 'Federal officials where repeatedly warned in the months before the September 11, 2001 terror attacks that Osama bin Laden and Al-Queda were planning aircraft hijacking suicide attempts according to a new report that the Bush administration had been repressing'. And this from the front page of the Washington post, 'a newly leaked video recording the high level government deliberation the day before Katrina hit shows disaster officials infatically warning President bush that the storm posed a catastrophic threat to new Orleans and the gulf coast, and a grim faced bush personally assuring state leaders that his administration was fully prepared <..> to help'.

Do we see a pattern here? 9/11? Katrina? They knew something was going to happen and they didn't act. They knew that if they went into Iraq that we were looking at a disaster, that there was no way we were going to be able to run that country. They know that global climate change poses a threat to the entire planet, nothing is being done, a pattern of recklessness, indifference, callousness. The implications are deadly for the people of the United States.

Now if we could only devise an Alpha male body to transplant his mind, heart and spirit into, we'd be able to truly go somewhere.

Unfortunately, guys like Dennis (no matter how decent or brilliant) will never get the vote of the majority of any modern human population.

18. it's simply sociobiology
And yours was a personal attack, not an argument.

It's not my preference by a long shot, but it's the nature of primate interaction. Primates choose Alpha Males to lead them. It's merely the way things are.

19. Actually latest primate research shows they choose conciliators ...
Sorry I don't have time to track down the cite, but the latest studies I've read about in the science sections of the newspapers is that primates do not choose super macho, super aggressive types as leaders. They choose "political" types that conciliate factions and are quick to forgive. The aggressive types tend to stress everyone out and they are eventually kicked out.

23. The difference is in what you consider the Alpha
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 05:30 PM by melody
The Alpha is the Alpha. It doesn't necessarily mean the aggressive one.

Also, there are all manner of theories thrown about in anthropology. I think it's clear, from the very fact (aside from the last two elections when the non-Alpha won ... which is the main reason I suspect the vote was rigged), the Alpha candidate has been elected President every time, that domesticated primates choose Alphas. There's a group of sociobiologists who do nothing but chart (from early candidates) the winner of any political contests. They've only been wrong twice -- both times Bush was elected.

60. why the personal attack?
This isn't about preference, it's about science and none of it is hard and fast. I feel like I'm on a fundie board trying to argue evolution. We are primates. We react through sociobiology. The devil is in the details.

However, you seem to be here to fight with people, so I'm adding you to my ignore list.

Statements like that are bullshit. If people like his ideas, they should vote for him, regardless of what he "looks" like and that is not a circus freak by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, the statements of "he can't win". Well, if we all voted for him, he'd win.

All the way with Special K!

66. true
but it's a small step... they hear that attacks using suicide hijackers are being planned, and they choose not to follow up on it.

perhaps they didn't know of the specific 9/11 plot, but they knew the planning was there, and did nothing.

Considering the way they cashed-in on false stories like Lynch, Tillman, etc, one has to question the "official" story regardless of where it leads

I choose to reserve judgement till I get the truth, but I have no reason to trust ONE WORD these people say. If their words regarding 9/11 are factual, they would be the ONLY factual words this Admin has ever spoken

16. A plea to DUers now that Dennis said this: We are not crazy pod people!
Now that a respected and beloved Democratic leader has endorsed the outline of LIHOP, can DUers who don't believe LIHOP or MIHOP, at least treat the possibility as something over which reasonable people can disagree? I realize that most of the debate properly will go on in the 9/11 Forum, but non-crazy postings in GD I hope will no longer elicit the sneers from "official conspiracy theory" (ie 9/11 Commission incompetence theory) believers.

If you don't accept LIHOP, fine. But people who believe in LIHOP, like Dennis, or MIHOP, do not necessarily believe in flying holograms, pods under planes, hijacked planes' passengers being offloaded in Cleveland, passengers from hijacked planes spending forged Italian Lira on the Austrian border, or that these conspiracies occur because we are governed by reptilian lizards from another planet.

28. LOL! Not Dennis, DUers!
I think that DK's statement is basically LIHOP. Considering the traditions of decorum, I would guess that his private views are even stronger, given the constraints of political speech.

And as for pods, etc, what I meant was that anytime any DUer presents explicit evidence of LIHOP or MIHOP even from mainstream media sources, there is a contingent here who will immediately scream that we are all crazy and believe in holograms/pods/reptilian overlords also.

It's a way of shutting down rational discussion -- guilt by association or discrediting by association.

If you go through the 9/11 research, you will see that there are facts that are inexplicable without some form of complicity.

If you believe that the administration is so good and righteous that they would never let 9/11 happen on purpose, then of course you will see all evidence of that as "twisted." But that's just your opinion and wishing it were so does not make it so.

How much in denial does one have to be to think oddities equal an elaborate conspiracy?

How much in denial does one have to be to ignore evidence to the contrary?

And how much in denial does one have to be to accuse those who don't believe in their pet theory of believing that this administration is "so good and righteous"?

Your attack on those that don't drink YOUR Koolaid proves you have no argument.
