Kristol: Conservatives Believe The Bush Administration Is Incompetent
Kristol: Conservatives Believe The Bush Administration Is Incompetent

Today on Fox News Sunday, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol said that conservatives have come to believe the Bush administration is incompetent:

BILL KRISTOL: I think it’s become in people’s minds an emblem of the administration that just isn’t as serious about the competent execution of the functions of government as it should be. And even — I’m struck talking to conservatives and Republicans — they agree with the president on basic political philosophy, the they agree with his basic policy agenda, but they are worried that they just don’t seem to be able to execute as well as they should be.

Kristol is right, and it’s a dynamic that makes policy debates almost irrelevant. Even if the administration were to stumble onto a policy that would improve things, it’s highly unlikely the people in charge would be able to execute the policy effectively.

1. conservatives are incompetent for only realizing it now
when his ratings were higher, Bush could do no wrong in the eyes of conservatives.

And of course this applies to congressional republicans...

20. Right on leesa. They wanted to drown gov't in a bathtub
(per Norquist). Well now it is well and truly DROWNED, on purpose, and this, of course, is what these geniuses GET.

I'd laugh at them if I and my family weren't stuck with the results as well.

14. It's not Bush... it's the entire GOP/Corporate Power Structure and it's no
not "incompetence", it's the deliberate destruction of government by the people, of the people and for the people.

The entire "conservative" agenda is replacing representatives of the people who will fight for the Common Good with Corporate cronies who will refuse to enforce regulations.

15. Got everything you wished for Billy, and it's not what you wanted?
Grow the fuck up already, you spoiled brat of a man!

The recent path to this point in our country's history, a path you and your ideological fellow travelers gleefully and greedily started out on five years ago, has now become littered with bodies, drenched in blood, and everything isn't ordered like you thought it would be. If folks on the left hadn't been screaming it in your fat, oblivious, bovine mug for the last five years, I wonder if even now you'd notice. But notice you have, Billy. At last.

But true to form, you find fault not in your murderous, short-sighted policies, but in their execution (no pun intended).

Go to Hell, Billy.

16. Kristol saw Bush carry out his PNAC agenda and wants to blame * for it's
failure. Sure Bush IS incompetent, but the PNAC world vision is flawed as well.

THE PROJECT FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CENTURY

The Project is an initiative of the New Citizenship Project (501c3); the New Citizenship Project's chairman is William Kristol and its president is Gary Schmitt.

17. The GOP used to be
a party with some ideas I actually agreed with, although I still considered myself a Labor Democrat. Now they are nothing but a bunch of coorportatists trying to figure out how they can screw the citizens for every last red cent they can get their little oil-soaked hands on.

Mr. Kristol, the neocon movement has destroyed the conservative movement. The GOP is no longer conservative, it is something that Teddy Roosevelt would have never recognized and would have hated.

You elected an idiot and then seem suprrised when he does stupid things..........go figure.

18. Neocons are distancing themselves from Bush
This is becoming abudantly clear. They are hanging him out to dry. I honestly believe that they are trying to distance themselves from him so they can go ahead and tie their sails to their 2008 candidate (whomever that may be). Bush is making SO many blunders of late and no one appears to be trying to get him out of it - makes it evident to me that the puppet masters are looking for a new puppet.
