Florida teens caught on security cameras deny beating homeless man to death
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/LAW/02/22/homeless.beating/

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (CNN) -- Three Florida teenagers pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of a homeless man in January.

The teens also entered not guilty pleas in Broward County Court to attempted murder charges stemming from the beatings of two other homeless men the same night in what authorities suspect was a string of attacks.

Fort Lauderdale police told CNN Wednesday that they're investigating five other similar beatings and believe one or more of the defendants could be involved in some of those attacks.

Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted William Ammons, 18, Brian Hooks, 18, and Thomas Daugherty, 17. (Full story)

The airing of the video on local television stations prompted calls from "scores of people" who identified the two attackers seen in the tape, according to a police report.

1. Would you have ever seen this sort of thing in Iraq prior to
our invasion and occupation?? I think not. There are a lot of things that go on here that I would think never took place in Iraq. On the whole, they were most likely a better educated and more civil group of people than ourselves, I'm almost sure of it.

4. What are you talking about?
I see no connection between Iraq and this incident... other than the perception that it is okay for the powerful to beat up on the powerless.

5. What I'm talking about is the difference between the people of
Iraq and the two million Americans locked away to "keep Amurka safe". I'm saying we invaded the most western like, secular to a degree nation in the ME. I'm saying that the Christian churches were not harrassed before we went there and mucked it all up. I'm saying that when you point a finger at others you have three pointing back at you... maybe I should not have drawn any parallels, but the invasion of Iraq is another example of the powerful beating up on the powerless.

2. Send their asses to boot camp....
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 11:45 AM by Drum
I mean real bootcamp, the Army. They could channel some of that aggression, test their skills against actual opponents, and I know the military could use the bodies in their recruitment drives.

Or are we seeing R candidates for some office in, say, 20 years? They already seem to intuitively know to lie in the face of contrary evidence....
