John Armor, Republican congressional candidate for district 11, has agreed to be interviewed by a group of bloggers here in NC. I think this is pretty gutsy of him, and I plan to be respectful. He seems like a nice enough guy... for a Republican.

The incumbent is Charles H. Taylor: A Republican so corrupt that even the Freepers admit it. Hard to believe, but true.

While I doubt I will vote for Mr. Armor, I hope he wins the nomination. It would be good for NC voters to be able to chose between two, or more, candidates with integrity.

Anyhow, I have a few questions already... but I was curious if y'all had any ideas about what I should ask him.

Here is his site: www.armorforcongress.com

1. Wow- Chuckie has a challenger!
Awesome. Sorry I lack any questions (or brainpower) this morning- just thought that this was interesting.

2. You "plan to be disrespectful?"
I wouldn't be ugly to the guy. If he does win the election (are there any Ds running?), you may want continued access to his office.

5. Doh! That was the spell-checker!
I initially mis-spelled "respectful", and the spell checker put that word in.

Doh!

I plan to be completely respectful of Mr. Armor. Anyone who is willing to have a no-holds-barred discussion with a group of untamed bloggers deserves respect.

6. LOL! I was wondering!
Good--he sounds like a decent enough guy if he's going to sit down with bloggers. :D

8. I've been reading his work all morning.

Some of his stuff makes me wince... but he seems like a classic Eisenhower-type Republican. I didn't think they made those anymore!

Nice enough guy. But I have to wait till I meet and listen to him before I come to an opinion.

Ultimately, I want someone who believes in Democracy and rule of law. Democrat, Republican, Green or Liberatrian.

3. Ask him about the Dubai deal and what he thinks of the Bush
administration doing nothing about border and port security ~

Btw, did you mean you were going to be 'respectful'? I think 'disrespectful' might have been a typo?

4. I'm greedy
I hope Charles Taylor wins the nomination... then, if we can run a good clean Democrat, the choice is between the Dem & the Culture of Corruption in DC.

9. Shuler, the likely Dem candidate, seems pretty conservative.
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 01:45 PM by brainshrub
I should be clear that I haven't investigated Shuler yet... but my understanding is that he's pro-life, pro-Iraq war, pro-death penalty and fairly pro-business. (Read "anti-labor")

Disclaimer: I could be totally wrong about the above sentence! I honestly haven't looked too deeply into the congressional races yet. But that's my impression.

After Kerry the surrender-money, I refuse to vote for someone just because they are a Democrat. From now on, my candidates must meet minimum criteria for me to vote for them. I don't care if they lose.

Yes, I meant all of that.

This does not mean I will speak ill of Dems after the primary... but I won't vote for DINOs anymore.

My minimum standard for Dem candidates:

1) Must make a solid, 100% commitment to verifiable paper ballots.
2) Must be pro-choice.
3) Must support, at the minimum, a time-table for a withdrawal from Iraq.*
3) Must be endorsed by a reputable labor union.
4) Must be a proven fighter. No surrender-monkeys need apply.

* I understand this is a complicated issue, but the basic "Get the f*ck out of Iraq ASAP" attitude must be there for me to support h/er.

10. Just finished with the interview.
It was a great conversation.

For a Freeper, Armor isn't that bad.

While I think electing him to congress would be a massive mistake, at least he isn't a blatant crook like Taylor is.

Ultimately he's in the race because he loves the Republic... you gotta respect that.
