Nuclear poisoning of the Persian Gulf might give pause, though, to US and Israel. We would like to be able to steal their oil without having to wear radiation suits, and Israelis live in the region. Not that there are not insane men in leadership positions in both countries.
Conventional bombing probably, and creation of no-fly zones and whatnot, to "contain" Iran (which has done nothing to anybody, but may merely be breaking a treaty, which they have the SOVEREIGN RIGHT to do in their own interest and for their own protection). Then, when the Bush junta has engineered a military Draft (a neat trick that is going to be, but I'm sure they have plans), or have secured sufficient tyrannical control of the U.S. (they're very close) to purchase mercenaries at our expense (as our poor die in the streets of hunger, and the elderly die quietly in their beds for lack of medical care), they will complete the takeover of the Iranian oil bourse and stick it to China over our paper.
The ten thousand deaths? Pfft. They're A-rabs, aren't they? Like the "gooks" in Vietnam who wanted self-determination, like the "untouchables" and "ragheads" in India, likewise, and like the "niggers" in the south who wanted full citizenship and the right to vote, and like the "terrorists" in Iraq who don't want to be occupied, and like the poor and brown everywhere who have anything worth stealing including their labor, they DON'T COUNT, they get tagged with the nicknames of the subhuman, and they therefore can be tortured and killed with impunity, in massive numbers, for our convenience.
By "we" and "our" I do NOT mean the great majority of the American people, who are appalled at Bush's war and torture and everything else, and have been rendered powerless by a rightwing Bushite corporate takeover of our election system*. I mean that which is done in our name--and which WE will undoubtedly pay for in every possible way.
It is a global "game," for sure, with millions of lives being sacrificed to it--in slaughters and maimings and illness and poverty. The oil "game." Who knows what will happen? Possibly the Bush junta is just using threats and bullying and saber-rattling, to force some point (trading in dollars maybe?). They are full of hot air on most things, and can't even keep control of Iraq. My read on them is that they are primarily thieves (not so much Nazis, nor 'christian' nuts--although both things pose danger for the future). Thieves can thrive in chaos, but not too much chaos. The Bushites have zero ability to build anything useful to their nefarious plans (like a powerful industrial economy--such as Hitler built), and below zero 'christian' beliefs of any kind (sons of the Devil they are). Really, they act just like thieves and looters (not even mafia-like, not that organized or dependent on orderly business). Pirates, brigands, vandals, opportunists, on a global scale. The Neo-Cons may have their plans, but I don't think the main drivers of the Bush junta do. They are looting everything in sight, and actually greatly disabling the U.S. and its vaunted military and economic power. And it really is difficult to figure out what they expect to gain by that, except massive short-term enrichment of the few.
They are meanwhile exposing corporate rule, naked for all to see, and seem bent on creating revolutionary conditions in the U.S. (as fascists and corporate rulers have done in so many other places, but not here). That COULD possibly be their plan--to ruin the country, as was done to Germany prior to Hitler's rise, to create conditions of political chaos, economic ruin (hitting the rest of us, of course--not them and their buds) and bitterness (the Germans' loss of their democracy and good government, following upon their loss of WW I), in order to pave the way for open dictatorship. That may well be the text in some bottom draw of a number of rightwing billionaire-funded 'think tanks' (not to mention electronic voting corporations). Possible. But the visible part--what we can see at the moment--does not make sense to me, except as the biggest heist that ever was.
