Dick Cheney wants Americans to save more money!
He might as well have said, I know I have my foot on your throat, but all you have to do is breath! He is a truly evil man! I am tired of asking the question, "what's wrong with him?" He is just an evil evil man!

Vice President Dick Cheney urged Americans Thursday to do a better job of saving and challenged policymakers to strengthen pensions and fix Social Security to help people in their golden years.

"The American dream begins with saving money and that should begin on the very first day of work," Cheney told a conference here exploring how to encourage people to boost savings and be better prepared for retirement.

Too often, workers are living paycheck to paycheck and are not saving sufficiently, Cheney said.

23. How about,
How would you like to live in the reality of the average American for a month?

Maybe that could be a new reality show, "Trading Incomes", or "Salary Swap".

5. he has decimated the middle class
with outrageous and obscure energy policies and prices and profits that far exceed one's ability to pay them. Save money. . .? Without unethical stock options in Halliburton that is so unlikely. It would almost be funny if it were not sad.

9. This is so beyond the pale...it's hard to find the words...
America is screwed. According to the latest figures, Americans saved -2 percent of their incomes last month. That's NEGATIVE 2 percent. We spent more than we earned.

We've been living this way for years now--because BushCo allowed banks to permit people to borrow their way into financial hell. In my opinion, this was BY DESIGN. They encouraged us to spend, spend, spend and put it all on easily-obtained credit cards. They enabled people to purchase expensive homes that they couldn't afford with interest-only loans. When the principal payments kick in--watch for massive garage sales in the McMansion districts. They'll be selling their leather ottomans, Pier One beaded pillows and plasma-screen TVs for dirt cheap.

The banking industry--via the US Congress and BushCo--allowed people to be irresponsible with credit cards and with the equity in their homes. People use their homes like ATM machines.

Health-care costs are completely out of control--a crisis that BushCo ignored. Fifty percent of bankruptcies are due to outrageous medical bills. Now, the bankruptcy laws offer no protection for people.

Minimum wage hasn't been raised, due to protests from big business--namely the CEOs making millions who don't want to pay their workers a living wage. BushCo is against raising the min wage.

So NOW...NOW...they tell us to save????

They're laughing at us. They're mocking us. They think we're idiotic lemmings who are to be manipulated and scoffed at.

and they believe our government has our best interests in mind. The government and corporate world have learned how to use us.

10. Ben Stein gave a similar rant this morning on CBS;
Blamed the boomer's for not having saved enough money for retirement.....Sorry Ben , it was your party that destroyed good jobs and forced us into duel income families. We of the "feel good" generation have become used to working 60 to 70 hour work weeks and having to borrow money to send our kids to college. And thanks for doing your best to destroy SS and Medicare, it didn't stop you from garnishing our pay checks. Your party stole the money and now you want to blame it on us...... Talk about out of touch!:nuke:

20. I think I will go without my medication this month.

And, maybe I can cut back my grocery bill too...Ramen noodles are on sale this week. These kids today are getting spoiled with all the fruits and vegetables we give em.

Oh...and those new tires I was going to get on my 9 year old car.

Pure luxury.

I am so sorry Dick.

Thanks for letting me know what I need to do -

You soulless monsterous son of a demon from hell.

13. yeah right!!!
lets see...first we must choose to have either food, medicine or heat..and then after we make that choice, maybe we can cut out something else and put it into our savings account....yeah, that should work! The good thing is if he keeps making statements like that one, he rating should drop from 18% to, perhaps 4%.

It will be a great day when the American worker CAN afford to save and Cheney has to be a Wal-Mart greeter till the day he keels over.

17. same people that after 9/11 said

we should spend, spend, spend. Said that we should make investments in our businesses. Said that we should get on planes and "see America."

I have yet to go back to pre 9/11 spending. I cut way back on personal and business spending even when right after, when the person I was canceling my vacation trip with said I was not "being a good American."

18. Fuck these people

Many, many boomers were the victims of corporations closing their doors and going overseas...

I know so many people who just 'missed' their time quota to be able to get a pension. Many people lost their life savings when this happened.

And, it is a little tough to save money when two pay checks don't cover basic needs.

And, health care costs half your pay check.

The rich are KILLING us.

25. Well said.
What breathtaking arrogance Mr. Rich has in telling us "to save more"; he has no idea of how much things cost today, and of how many jobs were/are sent off to other countries by republinazis, etc.

22. Maybe we should send Cheney copies of our checkstubs and
all of our living expenses (house payments, utilities, car payments, insurance, groceries, etc.) and let him fix us up with a budget to show us how to save those big bucks for our retirement. Better yet, let him show us that budget for a family of four living on minimum wage.
