Falwell sorta pokes to Al Gore last night
Last night during the Oscars I was flipping the channels and saw on PAX TV "Live from Liberty". Remember that Liberty University is Falwell's Christian college. He was giving an opening address before the hour sermon started and in the opening he was saying how things have changed over the years with society such as with airplane's, cars and he said "and long before Al Gore invented the internet." :eyes: He wasn't saying anything rude or anything but you could tell he was kinda poking to Gore. I don't recall if Gore ever claimed to invent the internet. According to Al Franken's "Lies" book he talked about that and saying how Gore lobbied for the internet through Congress when he was a Congressman and he believed in helping to get them funding to start it. I didn't tune in to his sermon or anything since I flipped it back to the Oscars.

the ARPANET into the internet than any other politician, Al Gore gets ridiculed for it.

It's all part of the topsy-turvy right-wing world we have to bear.

6. well, at least Al has this lifetime achievement award from the IADAS
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences -- in recognition for 3 decades of work, as a policymaker, for making the Web what it is today.

"Webby Awards not laughing at Gore's contribution to Net

NEW YORK — Al Gore may have been lampooned for taking credit in the Internet's development, but organizers of the Webby Awards for online achievements don't find it funny at all. In part to "set the record straight," they will give Gore a lifetime achievement award for three decades of contributions to the Internet, said Tiffany Shlain, the awards' founder and chairwoman."

3. Well for Pat's information the true father of the internet credits Gore
for the internet being made possible for his efforts.

Whether Gore's statement that he "took the initiative in creating the Internet" is justified is a subject of debate. Any statement about the "creation" or "beginning" of the Internet is difficult to evaluate, because the Internet is not a homogenous entity (it's a collection of computers, networks, protocols, standards, and application programs), nor did it all spring into being at once (the components that comprise the Internet were developed in various places at different times and are continuously being modified, improved, and expanded). Despite a spirited defense of Gore's claim by Vint Cerf (often referred to as the "father of the Internet") in which he stated "that as a Senator and now as Vice President, Gore has made it a point to be as well-informed as possible on technology and issues that surround it," many of the components of today's Internet came into being well before Gore's first term in Congress began in 1977.

worked hand-in-glove with the GOP spin machine.
