Tucker Carlson-Jon Stewart exchange redux?
I did not watche Jon Stewart on Larry King, but the WSJ's Daniel Henninger reported on this exchange:

Larry King suggested to Jon Stewart that the current low ebb of the Democrats and Republicans was good for Mr. Stewart's business.

Larry King: "So, in a sense you're happy over this."

Jon Stewart: "No."

King: "This gives you fodder." Mr. Stewart replied that if government "began to solve problems in a rational way rather than just a way that involved political dividends, we would be the happiest people in the world to turn our attention to idiots like, you know, media people, no offense."

King: "So, you don't want it to be bad?"

Stewart: "Did you really just ask me if I want it to be bad?"

King: "Yes because you . . . "

Stewart: "What are you -- I have kids. What do you think? I want things to corrode to the point where we're all living in huts?"

King: "You don't want Medicare to fail?"

Stewart: "Are you insane?"

1. I remember King torpedoed Kucinich over universal health care.

He even interrupted him during the Democratic primary debates to call him a socialist over again several times during one debate King moderated.

King has an agenda.

3. I watched it...
I swallowed my repulsion for Larry King, and I cheered during that exchange. Jon soooo shot him down. My hero! :loveya:

5. King Was Clueless
I remember when Larry King actually was a good interviewer. Now he's turned into someone's goofy uncle who asks the most stupid questions. Usually the guests let him get away with it...Stewart knocked it out of the park.

I saw the exchange live and nearly spit up my beverage when I heard that exchange. While King was trying to do the age-old separate the comic from the politics game, Stewart doesn't play that, thus King just threw one into Jon's wheelhouse and he didn't miss it. I think C & L had this clip up on Tuesday...that transcript doesn't do the justice to the sound of incredulism in Stewart's voice.

9. "are you insane?!!" -- and his wide-eyed look ...
It sure seemed to me that he could not believe Larry King would ask such a question. (If he was just pretending-- I think we should rethink his description of himself as the 4th-male-lead-in-"Death to Smoochy", because in that case, he can definitely act!)

6. A fundamental disconnect
Media talking heads like Carlson or King keep reacting to Jon Stewart as if he were one of themselves: Sedate herd animals. Instead, Stewart basically uses his wit to deflate the talking heads' idiotic jabber.

I hope they never catch on. It's great watching Stewart skewer them!

7. Don't know if it's true... but I wouldn't be surprised.
Larry King asks some the most innane and ridiculous questions on television...

8. Larry King's dentures practically fell out when Jon didn't answer his BS
questions. CNN would be much better off if they got rid of that nasty creature. :eyes:
