Best MSM coverage of torture overshadowed by Oscar?
If you watched the Oscars tonite instead of 60 minutes, you missed what, IMHO, was the best MSM coverage of the torture issue yet. Yep, better than the long forgotten 10 second soundbites on Abu Grahaib (sp?) on the evening news, this was nearly 20 uninterrupted minutes on torture- war crimes done in our name, paid for with our taxes. The segment covered the case of Deliwar (sp?) and another man, who were written about in the NYT last year. Examined the investigation and charges against one soldier and his immediate superior, but the best part was the absolutely blistering comments by Wilkerson, Colin Powell's former right hand man. Hopefully a transcript will be available; I'd love to get an mpeg file to burn to DVD, or at least a link to streaming video.
Anyone know what the ratings for 60 minutes was compared to the Oscars?

1. They weren't really head to head.........
Anyone watching the Oscar "pre-show" probably isn't regularly watching 60 Minutes anyway.

2. Maybe they should have run the story either last week or next week..
I missed this tho I didn't tune into the Oscars until it was almost over. Thanks for the info, I'll likely catch it online or elsewhere.

4. If you want to see serious coverage, Link TV has several documentaries on
the subject. There was one on today that I watched.

5. I'm glad 60 Minutes is finally doing a follow-up to their 2004 breaking of
this horrible story. I will email to thank them.

Did you see Frontline's excellent program on torture a few months ago.
