personal gratification. The word starts with d and ends with a o. I find this almost worse than the woman who wrote the op ed saying you must not have sex for pleasure.

What is going on in this country? When my husband and I left our Southern Baptist church it was over being patriotic. Now I am finding out that churches here are starting stuff like this.

Tennessee Guerrilla Women are blogging about this.

http://guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/2006/03/lawmakers-r-seek-to-outlaw-dildos.html

The Dire Problem of Dildos in Tennessee

Apparently, lawmakers in this impoverished red state can't find enough serious problems to address, so they've turned their minds to sex, specifically sex toys.

For unknown reasons, State Senator Charlotte Burks (DINO) and State Rep. Eric Swafford (R) have been thinking a lot about the activities going on your bedroom. They have come to the conclusion that Tennessee will be a better place to live if the state regulates your bedroom by outlawing dildos.

Dildos today, mandatory missionary position tomorrow. We think it's high time the Republican party considers a name change. We suggest the Victorian Party, along with a campaign slogan of: Vote for a Victorian, and Say Hello to the Peeping Tom State in Your Bedroom.

It's true that Burks calls herself a Democrat, but in this state the Democratic party is over-run with Republicans."

People I knew growing up here are losing their everloving minds to this stuff. And old high school friend and I parted ways when I questioned her condemnation of her daughter for going to work instead of staying home with children. She told me God would judge her.

They scare me. They totally scare me.

They are getting like Taliban. My state legislator is trying to keep changing parental notification laws here in Florida until the courts can NOT find for the plaintiff at all. He also have his aide give sermons for free if you call. She calls abortion murder, talks down to those who call.

Good Lord they scare me. And I was raised Southern Baptist with a father who was deacon and chairman of almost every committee.

22. They are trying to turn the United States into Heaven on earth.
A true Christian does not concern themselves with earthly things. You can not create a heaven-like atmosphere on earth. This is not what God wants. He wants us to be assured that we will only find Heaven through Him. These types of people who profess to be Christians are missing the whole point. The earthly world will always be full of sin. You must not worry about the sins of others on earth, just yourself. It is impossible to create a Heaven on earth. As a Christian I believe their actions are hurting people and they are moving further from God's grace.

24. 'tis my understanding Texas has such a law...
and at least one woman holding house parties to sell sex toys and goodies has been harassed. Dunno if it's gone as far as indictments, but court decisions about privacy in the bedroom are beng circumvented as surely as decisions on abortion.

And damn near everything else personal and private.

They're not letting up on the anti-buggery, anti-porn, anti-infidelity, and anti- every other damn thing they have no business sticking their obsessed, dirty little noses into.

When are the anti-miscegenation laws coming back?

These are people who are convinced sex is dirty, and nothing will convince them otherwise. And they insist on government not intruding on personal property, their own lies about their enemies, but happily bustng into our bedrooms. I don't remember the details, but a while back a couple was busted for some "revolting" sex act, probably a blowjob, because a peeping tom was watching in their window and called to complain about how he was so upset.

Once was a time the peeping tom would get busted, but now he's a force for civic decency.

They're in my medical records, my phone calls, my finances, my emails, and now back in my bedroom.

GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY LIFE!

ALL OF OUR LIVES!

30. Pretty much
What that lady got in trouble for was explaining to the undercover police how to use the toys. She "promoted" the use of them for human genital stimulation. That's what's a no-no in Texas. We can sell them and buy them but we have to call them novelty items and you don't go into how to use them. It's really one of those stupid laws that serves no purpose except to make uptight people feel better. :eyes:

33. I grew up in a Southern Baptist household
and even though I left the church when I was 18, I can say that Southern Baptists are much more conservative now than they used to be. But churches in the part of Florida I used to live in...scary. Two years ago I was back there around Independance Day, and a friend called me to ask me to a patriotic play put on by the combined efforts of many area churches. I never heard of anything like that when I was growing up, and frankly it scared me. I'm a Unitarian now, and I understand the importance of a spiritual life, but these super-churchy people scare me.

Does that mean it's okay to sell 'em - but you're busted if you buy 'em?

Are they going after inflatable dolls w/lifelike skin & 'parts' as well, or just making sure that the womenfolk don't have access to tools to make up for their menfolks' shortcomings or shortages? What's next - clitorectomy?
