“Is Hillary Clinton a socialist?”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews conducted a hard-hitting interview tonight with House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH). The most aggressive line of questioning Boehner faced was over the hotly-debated question, “Is Hillary Clinton a socialist?” which Matthews asked three times. The segment concluded with Matthews declaring, “You can see this man’s greatness.”

Full transcript below:

MATTHEWS: Is she a socialist?

BOEHNER: Uh, no. I’ve worked with her on a number of issues —

MATTHEWS: Well, on the issue of health care, is she a socialist?

BOEHNER: She would be to the left of most people I know.

MATTHEWS: But not a socialist?

BOEHNER: I wouldn’t go that far.

MATTHEWS: You wouldn’t go that far? What stops you?

BOEHNER: I don’t like labeling of people.

MATTHEWS: You call her a liberal. You called it Hillarycare.

BOEHNER: I don’t want to call her a socialist.

MATTHEWS: Could she carry Ohio in the general?

BOEHNER: I don’t think so.

MATTHEWS: Who could beat her?

BOEHNER: Anybody.

MATTHEWS: Anybody. Strong words. We’ll be right back with House Majority Leader John Boehner. You can see this man’s greatness.

2. I loved the way he, then, explored Republican health care initiatives...
Oh, that's right ---- he didn't. :sarcasm:

When Boehner said "Hillarycare," wouldn't a REAL JOURNALIST then say, "well sir, please explain in detail how the current health care situation is better than Ms. Clinton's plans."

Currently, pharmaceutical and insurance corporations are faring wonderfully under the Republican Health Care Plans. Perhaps actual American Citizens would benefit under Hillarycare?

4. Boehner's probably right that she's beatable.
But socialist? Liberal? (wipes spit-up soda off screen)

This is the pro-war senator who's out to stamp out nasty video games, who was married to the man who continued Reagan's economic policies, except for the deficit spending, and who drafted a health-care plan that would have been one of the biggest giveaways to corporate health care in history.

Let's see - Goldwater Girl, President of the Wellesly College Republicans, Dyed-in the wool DLCer - oh yeah, she's a socialist. :eyes:
