Bill Clinton and Dubai
You Duers are the smartest people I know, so I want to ask: Just what is Bill Clinton's involvement with the Dubai Ports Deal? The reason I'm asking is that Duncan "its all the Clenis's fault" Hunter was just on C-Span and kept bringing up Bill Clinton lobbying FOR the Dubai Ports Deal. What precisely, has Bill Clinton done to push forward this deal? Does anyone out there know? Thanks.

1. Thank you for proclaiming us the smartest people you know
We are even smart enough to sniff out the occasional freeper who pops up, so I'd have to agree with your assessment.

From CNN --> http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/02/port.security/

"Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, also has become embroiled in the ports deal controversy after a London newspaper reported Wednesday that he advised the UAE government two weeks ago to ask for the 45-day delay.

His spokesman, Jay Carson, confirmed that the former president received a call from UAE leaders two weeks ago but denied the Financial Times' report that Bill Clinton was advising DP World.

"He told them that he didn't know the details about the deal," Carson said. He added that Clinton made clear he "felt that any ports deal should be subject to the full scrutiny process and should also take steps to make ports safer, not maintain the status quo."

"Like Senator Clinton and many others, he is concerned about foreign state ownership of our ports, and, to this end, he is supportive of her legislation," Carson told CNN.
"

Hope that helps.

Bryant

4. Hmmm, I was suspicious of the earlier posts on his involvement
...apparently my suspicions weren't without merit.

3. Well bush is the one who's approving it, what clinton does is irrelevent.
There is no need to look at clinton when bush is the crook here.

7. Thanks, but........
Arianna has a post about this and I guess I just want to know what the truth is. She mentions Kemp's ties as well as Clinton's. I know Clinton is not the Pres or Congress, though I wish he still was Pesident. I just want to be sure that I am able to argue truthfully with my rightie friends. And by the way, I'm not a freeper. In fact, I get alot of my news from DU. Thanks.

9. I never said you were a freeper, but your logic (or Arianna's) is...
the kind of stuff we see from Hannity. It's a way of deflecting people away from those that actually made or make the decisions.

Hannity tried to use this same kind of logic with the Iraq war.

10. Sorry, my mistake.........
I'm only on my second cup of coffee this morning. I do know how sneaky these rethugs are as they try to deflect the real issues. The problem is that crazies like Duncan Hunter get air time and as much as I wish it weren't so, some of my rightie friends believe them. I just want to be able to set the record straight.
