For Bush, why do people push impeachment over a treason trial?
It is obvious that Dictator Bush is a candidate for a treason trial (9/11 complicity, Downing St. 'memos,' etc.).

Moreover, Bush was not an 'elected official.'

4. And you would be right.
Impeachment is like indictment for a mere mortal.

6. Make it impossible for him to do any more harm (impeachment
is not removal from office you know), or at least make it harder. Then when the rotten bastid is out of office, hand him over to the Hague.

8. I could be wrong but
I believe that first the president has to be impeached and convicted and thereby removed from office and then, as a mere citizen, he can be charged with a variety of crimes, such as treason. Until he is removed from office there are constitutional issues that make his legal status with respect to criminal prosecution 'difficult'.
