NC Senator Richard Burr publicly says he considers the nation's number one domestic issue to be health care. Tomorrow he has an opportunity to prove that his actions match his words.
Senator Burr is a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. This week this committee will take up the "Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act (HIMMA, S. 1955)."
This bill allows insurance plans to ignore state benefit protections. If passed, women in North Carolina will suffer drastic cuts to their health care, including: contraceptive coverage, direct access to Ob/Gyns, osteoporosis screening, maternity care, cervical cancer screening, and well-child care.
S. 1955 not only allows insurance plans to ignore state laws that protect patients; it will also increase costs for the older and sicker people who need health insurance most.
ACT NOW! This bill is bad for women, bad for health care, and bad for North Carolina. It will come to a vote in Senator Burr's committee tomorrow--Wednesday, March 8!
Call Senator Burr TODAY at (202) 224-3154 and urge him to VOTE NO on HIMMA, S. 1955.
