White House Linked to Mitch Wade Iran Group? By Josh Marshall

White House Linked to Mitch Wade Iran Group?
By Josh Marshall - March 7, 2006, 11:20 AM

Yesterday at TPM we noted the fact that in April 2004 Mitchell Wade -- the guy who paid off Duke Cunningham for help bagging contracts -- registered as the 'registered agent' for an outfit called the "Iranian Democratization Foundation."

That was on April 5th, 2004.

Now, during 2004, the Federal Procurement Data System lists 444 procurement contracts for the Executive Office of the President (that's the official name for what we colloquially refer to as 'the White House'). Most of those contracts are what you'd expect for a large office complex -- computer services, shipping, office supplies, etc.

But three stand out: three contracts, for a total of $254,437, for unspecified "intelligence services."

Those three contracts were awarded to Mitchell Wade's MZM, Inc.................

4. When you bribe people, the whole startup process accelerates markedly.
Think of it as "venture capital"!

5. Contracts that don't produce a "product". This is just
tax-payer funding of repug campaigns.

MZM gets a contract from the WH - they turn around and give the tax payer money to Delay/Cunningham/etc. and others on important intelligence and funding committees (in the form of "campaign donations")- then the repug crooked congresspeople fill a bill with pork for the defense department who can then let a fake contract to "friends of Bush and other repugs". The circle goes round and round for repugs.

Don't get me wrong - I am for tax-payer funded campaigns but I think it should be for two parties, not one.

6. And then they call it "intelligence services" so that it's "black ops" and
no one can inspect the accounting and see if any toilet seats or tanks were actually purchased with the money, instead of it winding up paying for some attack ad in Georgia or New Hampshire, or funding the operations of fr.com or whatever.

7. I heard about that more than a week ago. Obviously the MSM hasn't
paid any attention to it. I don't think it's lost though. I think there's lots of other connections that will surface as we find out just what Cunningham said when he committed to spill the beans!

Hell, there's so many different people that have been caught and opted to turn on the Admin now, I've lost track! Should be quite an interesting time ahead!

10. Yeah. I doubt it's linked to * or Rove. Safavian the likely culprit.

9. So when does the Whte House pull an Abromoff and claim that * ....
.... doesn't know him?

Just like Ken Lay

or

Just like Chalibi

Isn't this like the Lincoln group in that a "start up company" suddenly gets really contacted
to the neo con power structure?

14. This surely deserves a KICK! What the hell is Chimpy doing? Hiring
his own "shop" for intelligence these days? He's got 16 intelligence agencies (secret and not so secret) he's supposed to be using and he hires MZM. Was he having a "Nixon Moment."

How can he explain this? Or, better yet, who will ask him to explain it.

17. Hopefully this means he doesn't feel he can trust "our" intelligence
agencies.

Hopefully he's right.

15. K&R'd to Greatest page
Don't let Wade fall off the radar screen! Just because Cunningham is serving time and Abramoff is facing sentencing, this whole thing is NOT over! There's more dirty dealing yet to uncover!

16. UNBELIEVABLE
These people just don't quit, do they? From one brazen act to another.

And no one to stop them. Not Congress, not the now-Republican-owned courts, not the media.

We are so severely and completely screwed.
