Confused: they want death for Moussaoui, but * administration has no
responsibility for 9/11? Why isn't Condi on trial for lying...remember, "no body could have anticipated flying airplanes into buildings"? But the PDB from August 2001, gave her, as National Security Officer, ample warning. What about Bush? Couldn't we be arguing that he should be imprisoned for life because he prevented authorities from foiling the attacks?

I read this sentence about a dozen times today. And find it hard to follow. We can now kill someone for a hypothetical 'foiling' of the attacks? How do we know the authorities would have foiled anything any more than they did? Where was our AF that day? Our dear leader?

"The government argues Moussaoui should be put to death rather than imprisoned for life because he told lies that prevented authorities from foiling attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people."

1. That's a very good point...
If they give "Moussaoui" the death penalty.....(once again because we know they are short sighted)

They could possibly be setting themselves up for the same penalty if the truth comes out......

I think Moussaoui should get life in prison without parole.....but not death.....that sentence will pour more fuel on the hatred for America from the Middle East...

2. We want to fry this guy because his very existence
reminds us of what a fucking idiot condomsleezy is. But then we'd have to consider her negligence. Would she rather be remembered as a moran or a terrorist enabler. She's either one or the other. Actually she's probably both.

3. It's part of the Global Fear Campaign

At least that's the best I can make sense of it.

I'm not about to apologize for an individual who plots terrorism activities. That said, I DO find it disingenuous for the the prosecution to take this route in an effort to make him accountable.

Shortly after 9/11, we were provided information on how al Queda operates in conducting attacks...particularly the WTC attack. I'd have to go back and check the dates M was apprehended and more details about it, but IIRC, even the ones that carried out 9/11 were not aware of critical specifics until a very, very short period of time before that day. So, how would he have known all of the details when that's not how AQ works?

6. I think Moussaoui is batty as a loon and hates America..but one
could say the same about W! I'm really hung up on the death penalty for a 'might have'. Where as Tenent and all our other 'intelligence' experts had warnings from 14 other countries that al Queda was going to attack us, but the whole Bush gang just ignored them and Tenent got a medal! Why aren't they being held accountable for preventing ???? from foiling the attacks?

4. Crazy hypocrisy
How many tens of thousands of Iraqis have been murdered because of lies? I guess since we can't find boogieman Osama we'll just blame somebody else who probably didn't know half of what our own "intelligence" already knew? Crazy!

5. There is no clear evidence that if Moussaoui had talked to the
FBI that his information could have stopped 9/11. There were no direct connections between M. and the 9/11 hijackers; there is no evidence that he knew the date of the hijackings.

OTOH, there is evidence that the FBI could have prevented the attacks if they had simply followed up on information they already had -- they had the names of two of the hijackers; they had warnings from one or two of the flight schools, who could have provided names of potential hijackers; they had the PDB. The warnings were clear enough that Ashcroft stopped taking commercial fights.

Moussaoui is a scapegoat -- the Sacco and Vanzetti of the 21st century.

7. Whether life or death, he is a public relations lamb or call it psy-ops.
He is Osama for the shallow thinkers and those who are obsessed with the superiority of their Christianity and citizenship. They will be satisfied in part, even if he isn't the real Osama.
