There is a sad postscript to this story, which in itself stands as an indictment to what we in our “I don’t want to get involved” apathy have become. At the Las Vegas motel where Colon severely beat Gladys Perez and little Crystal Figueroa, several people heard the sounds of that beating going on, according to police statements. In one statement, a motel employee told police she had heard a child screaming but the owner threatened to fire her if she talked to the media.

For point of reference, some statistics to think about.

Sixty-six percent of murdered children under the age of 13 in the United States were killed by a family member.

In this country children under the age of 5 who fall victim to murder are killed by the father in 31 percent of the cases; the mother in 30 percent of the cases; and other male acquaintances 23 percent of the time.

Most murdered children under the age of 2 were beaten to death.

The average age of a son and daughter killed by a parent was 7 years old, and 80 percent were younger than 13.

Two-thirds of all prisoners convicted of rape or sexual assault had committed their crime against a child.

the first place.....You see where are the Neocons while these children are beaten, raped and murdered! No where to be found.....once out of the womb their job is done.....cut benefits, cut school meals.....

What we need to do is to use their tactic against them....Let us show these abandoned victims of their crusade....lets show them the broken little bodies that never had a chance at a decent life....

I was in a position to see these vile, horrible pictures and they have seared themselves in my brain.

I am not saying that abortion is the answer to everything...I don't know how to put it...if these children were not born into their horrible situations they would not have sufferred.....

5. Here's an idea....

Why dont all the pro-lifers just open up their homes to EVERY infant that's born into a bad situation as a result of the abortion being illegal?? I bet you wont see that happen!! The funny thing is that in the old days the so-called "conservatives" were the ones sending their teenage daughters off to have abortions when she slipped up so that the family name would not be shamed. Once the daughter came back, life went on as usual... Protesting abortions outside of clinics where people actually have work to do.

8. Why is the answer always abortion and bad Christians?

The story in the OP is tragic. It is horrible. However, it is not the fault of bad Christians or their desire to make abortion illegal. Abortion is currently legal. This woman could have aborted. She didnt. She could have given the child up for adoption. She didnt. Instead she made the choice to let her little girl be beaten to death by some asshole who was on parole for beating up his little sister.

If you are going to blame Christians for this, then blame them for not doing more to fix this morally bankrupt society. Not for their current campaign against abortion because it is so irrelevant in this case. Bitch about our Republican and Democratic senators that have cut funding to social welfare programs. Gripe about a mother with horrible judgement.

But on a related sidenote - If you believe that life starts at conception then abortion is almost as appauling to you as this story is. Doesnt matter if the reader feels that is rational or irrational. Or if it is a "nessecary evil" or what not...Just something to think about.

That none of the people who heard this beating taking place did anything to stop it, but the so
called 20th highjacker is now having his fate decided because he failed to stop 9/11!

So, my question is, when will all of the witnesses be indicted for not doing anything?
