What do you think of this quote by Trent Lott?
"Well, in reality that is the way it is in America and it is what makes us a great nation. True leaders must handle difficult situations or have competent people who handle those situations. Sources did give information of a general nature to the Administration and it is obvious that an attack still occured. This is a more 'impeachable' offense than what was brought before the Congress. Fortunately, George Bush will in just a few days become our President. I can assure you that such situations will not be mishandled by his Administration. However general the information might be, the President-elect will act with authority to prevent such tragedies."
- Trent Lott, the Observer, London England, January 2001.

1. He was LEADER back then
From all accounts, he'll be ready to put the knife in if a move to impeach does take hold. He has absolutely NO LOVE for BushCo anymore. Not since they threw him under the bus after that Strom business....

2. You see quotes like these should be played over and over
again and shoved down the throats of those that voted for the criminals...they are and have always been self serving hypocrites..

The information ammo is out there....it's just not being used effectively!!

3. Lott is still a bigot and his quote is just one more piece of hypocrisy.
Like any politician, he will do anything to save his own ass. If it takes turning against King George, he will do it. If it means going down on Karl Rove on prime time TV, he will do it.

When will everyone finally understand that most politicians (Democrats as well as Republicans) will murder their own mothers to get reelected?

There are exceptions, of course, but too few to make a difference.

And no, this is not cynicism. It's just an observation of what I've seen take place since the day I became politically aware.

4. So if the Cole bombing had happened a year earlier, they would
have impeached for that, rather than for a blow job.

So why didn't he move to impeach * after 9/11?

5. Not much. Lott's claim proved false. Name one thing in the Bush
administration that has not been mishandled.
