Hey focus on family dobson ...want me to stay home? Here's what you do

let my wonderful hubby make 100,00 a year and I would happily stay home!


I like teaching, but heck I love sleeping and a clean house more.

If I didn't have to work mr. dobson, I could make love to my husband every night and rest up while he and the kiddo's were at school and work.


I would have more time to write that book that is in my head. Heck, I could even volunteer at church.

boy are you cheap - or po - guess its $100,000.

Am I correct in thinking that in the 1960's there was an $8,000 tax credit if the woman, wife, mother DID stay home?

And am I also correct in thinking that that exemption is still $8,000 today? I remember my parents bought their house in 1960 for $8,000.

3. I would actually LOVE to stay home, but we like cruises

and nice cars

our daughter is almost 16 and so we have more expenses and college coming up

5. You know I bet at least 35% of all mothers would

maybe even 15%. I know there are many very career minded women where I work who have nannys and day care - and wouldn't stay home, which is fine - I really do just wish women had a choice in that matter. Not anymore, not in this day in age.

My mother HATED staying home & raising us kids - but she was a very money-oriented, career woman - we probably would have been better off in another setting - however, I would have loved nothing more than to stay home with my child, but pretty impossible when you're a single mom.

we have actually had this convo many times. Hubby makes over 60 thous a year, but we have student loans.

no credit card debt but a nice house and vehicle.

I make over 40 thou a year and If I could I would stay at home

I actually told hubby that he could have sex every night if I stayed at home.

as it is now, he is lucky if we hit the weekend...I could care less, I am in an eternal state of exaustion and could care less.

Rest up? Rest up during the day? No way. How would you find time to scorch his dress shirts with the iron? Watch soap operas? Eat chocolates? Go out to lunch? Buy new shoes? Get your hair done? Paint your nails?

No, there's no rest for the weary. You'll have to work up the energy to make love to your husband every night AND make your 2:00 color appointment at Maxine's.

13. We are in almost the same boat as you..

We make in the same vicinity and signed the papers on our first mortgage today. If we pay just what they tell us we will be paying on the thing till 2036. That is longer then I've been alive.

So, we have decided to be seriously dedicated to saving for the next 3 years. When the house is paid down to 1/4 of what it is now and we have a savings that equals one year of my salary and 6 months of living expenses, we will try to have children. I figure I'm much happier to sacrifice now and be able to stay home with my children and bake bread and go to the PTA and townhall meetings, maybe get some arbitrary certification in HVAC repair just to do it.

Alot of people never have this option living paycheck to paycheck with just enough spare time to get by.. others want more "stuff" so they continue to work so they can afford 2 SUVs a Boat, a green lawn in Las Vegas..I think if we as a society were satisfied with less gizmos and gadgets more of us would have a chance at a much higher quality of life.

Eventually your husband's earning power will go up. If your husband makes good decisions he will make 100,000 a year, or atleast closer to that figure.. it is just a matter of how long it takes to get there.

Make love to your husband every day anyway, it's good for his confidence.. and it's fun to boot.
