"Air America Radio:" Help them by joining Premium.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 06:41 PM by Eric J in MN
You'll get streaming access to AAR archives:

"For a SuperPass you can sign up to hear everything AAR produces for:
$10.95 a month; $49.95 for six months; $69.95 for a year."

More importantly, you'll be giving them cash they can use to keep going.

2. Ehhhh. Help AAR buy buying a radio station group.
AAR is going to be rubbed out of existance. The media is all gobbled up by corporatists and it's not going to change. I just think it's a matter of time before the satellite networks are purchased by some other conglomorate and AAR is dropped.

3. It's possible that someday a right-wing corporation will buy XM and
drop AAR, but in the meantime AAR has existing problems in growing the number of broadcast stations, and we can help them out by subscribing to Premium.

5. I don't agree with premium.
I think it's a boneheaded move. I used to send friends links to content on the AAPlace website, and now I don't.....this is a bad marketing move. No more viral marketing effect since thier content is now behind the wall.

8. There are two ways.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 07:18 PM by Eric J in MN
1) You can subscribe to Premium yourself, and sign up for podcasts of your favorite shows.
2) You can buy Replay Radio software and record shows.

9. Oh wow.
Yeah i'm going to do that.

Before all I had to do was download the MP3 and use a program to create the clip.

It's a boneheaded move. Short sided and stupid.

10. I'm thrilled
that the guys who run Air America Place can now afford to house the archives (do you have any idea what that much bandwidth costs?), and can actually get paid for what they do.

12. Blogs weren't exactly filled with Air America clips before
they told Air America Place to stop updating.

4. I already did — the SuperPass for a year.
I listen to Rachel Maddow's show from podcast while I'm at the gym. Couldn't live without it!

13. Why is it so goddam expensive?
You could practically buy a subscription to XM for the same amount.

14. the Superpass is well under the cost of other shows..
.. where you only get ONE show archives, for that you get ALL of Air America. Pretty good bargin..

and why? Well, other than the bandwidth cost, you have the cost of maintain the servers that hold it, people to manage it, backups, re-place faulty files, make the MP3's...

much as we might want it, you can't do all that for free forever.

16. That's what advertising is for
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 12:16 PM by Armstead
Free content in exchange for listening to ads.

That ought to at least be an alternative being offfered....

I'm very sypathetic to the need for revenue. But it becomes too exclusive to ditch the trditional model of broadcasting....Add up subscriptions to Air America, Stephanie Miller and all the rest, plus basi Internet broadbnd and you're talking about spending real money.
