Bush's last budget completely defunded the fed money to the Reeves Foundation. The guests go off on the environmental causes of cancer and the hypocrisy of many American people who talk about cancer but ignore what CAN be done about it.

When Chris died, Larry King held off on memorializing him because of the election and instead had a surprise visit from Laura Bush that night (Yeah....Rove made sure of it). This crowd was not going to let Bush off the hook tonight.

but what she wanted was action and how will we all work to get the research funded and push the government to do more.

while he cuts funds for cancer and stem cell research? Why do criminals like the Bush clan lead long and healthy lives while those like the Reeves and others who fight for just causes die so young?

I don't think he's pleased with Bush, at all.

Tell them to restore full funding for cancer research at NCI and NIH.

Give them a call tomorrow.

This should be just as important as abortion rights and stopping the war.

11. Alot of the budget cuts are going unreported in the media - most people

have no idea how drastically Bush has cut some of the most important funding that government has participated in for decades.

I lost a lot of respect for Lance Armstrong when I saw him paired up with Shrub for a little ride. How on earth could he have done that and still sleep at night?

It sounds very encouraging. The public has to face up to the facts about cancer and its prevalence. Bush has to be held accountable for his actions and we must stop cutting funds for medical research every time a new war is waged or a tax cut given.

Medical research has to be at the forefront of our national policy agenda and we have to spend the money necessary to find out how to prevent disease as well as cure it. And we HAVE to stop blaming the victims with sanctimonious talk about vitamins, special diets, etc. and find out what's really going on.

7. My dad survived lung cancer. The cure is horrendous. He survived

strokes with some impairment (none mental) and he is just finishing up beating lymphoma. Any one of those could be cured or mitigated by stem cell research. I hate them for the suffering they have condemned by father to endure. God bless the Reeves.

12. To cut out lung cancer, this is what they do. (It has only slightly

improved now)

They cut you from front to back, essentially cutting you in half. They cut out a rib (now they bend them) and then cut out the lobe. Then they sew you up, leave in drains, give you narcotics and send you home too early. Its horrendous. I pray everyone who smokes gives it up.

13. They have to send you home early

to avoid risk of post-surgical infections like staph, CDiff, which are becoming more resistant to antibiotics and more life threatening. Its a growing problem in hospitals.

You're better off at home with your own germs and a home health aide or nurse coming in to take care of you. All the medical research shows you recover more quickly at home and with much less risk of infection.

On edit: There's not nearly as much research into treatment for lung cancer today as there should be. Its an under-funded area, because groups like American Cancer Society insist that funds be spent on stop-smoking campaigns instead. We need funding for research too, because not all lung cancer is related to cigarette smoking. Lung cancer patients have a right to research funding, too.
