Sen. Pat Roberts is a TRAITOR!
Roberts' rubberstamping of King Chimp's domestic spying CRIME PLAN in the Senate Intelligence Committee is nothing less than a TRAITOROUS ACT against democracy. Not only this, he is STILL dragging his feet on any investigation of King Chimp's manipulation of pre-Iraq Crusade intelligence data.

Does anyone know if a US Senator can be impeached? If so, what does it take and how can we rid our country of the Benedict Arnold shitbag Sen. Pat Roberts? Aren't his constituents ashamed to be represented by such a fascist asshole?

4. Kansas. Well, that figures. A state that doesn't believe in science.
I've never been to Kansas and never plan to go to such a backwards-assed state. Fuck Kansas (except for the democrats who live there...I pity them).

9. Don't pity us
Good God will this ever stop?

We are busy working hard here we do not need your pity, nor do we need anymore stupid posts like this. You may think you are being cute or smart but you are simply making it much harder for us to accomplish anything.

20. Muse don't you know
you gotta give him some credit. It isn't easy to point fingers and stick your nose in the air with faux contempt and ridicule when your Senator is Libby Dole. Like he has any room to talk.

At least we had the Dole that wasn't a fundamentalist wacko. Let's see him get rid of his Dole. Once that happens we Kansans might just listen to him, otherwise, they can be content with their wacky Bush-loving Dole. She's still the only one I hear who says "homicide bomber" just like Baby Bush.

Here's a sample of his senator's witticisms and why he feels the need to take it out on us:

The very idea of freedom incites fear in the hearts of terrorists across the world.

In liberating Iraq, we have rid the nation and the rest of the world from the danger of Saddam Hussein.

Iraq is the central battleground in the war on terror. The terrorists certainly know what is at stake, which is why they are pulling out all the stops to derail our efforts there. They know that a free and democratic Iraq is a serious blow to their interests.
Elizabeth Dole

Or maybe he's just upset that UNC beat Duke silly the other day in basketball. UNC reminds of Roy Williams. Roy reminds him of Kansas.

21. MABUS!!!!!
You so rock! :yourock:

I had not even thought to look, I just had one of those famous knee jerk reactions when something sooo unhelpful finds it's way once again to our board.

Dole is an idiot. (not meant to cut Roberts any slack for his idiocy)

Do you think we should work to replace him? I'm thinking we ought to talk about it anyway ;).

25. The last couple of people I caught Kansas-bashing
were from Canada. :eyes: For the most part they said Kansas wasn't a progressive state () but I let them know a little Kansas history and then congratulated them on their recent election of Harper (the conservative) as their PM.

To quote something I heard once "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

28. I'd like to replace him but Brownback's up first in 2008
but if a chance comes up to get rid of Roberts or Brownback before either of their terms expired, I'd do it. Right now, all the publicity they're getting isn't helping them locally. Which reminds me, it is about time to call Roberts' office again and ask about the second part of that report. They're probably wondering what's happened to me since I haven't called this week. :eyes:

And yes, we should talk about it. We should talk about it over lots of beer.

22. Fair point. But, Dole is not Senate Intelligence Committee Chair...
Dole's pretty powerless and very low-key in the Senate. The same goes for Richard Burr, our other Repuke Senator.

24. I might be able to comment on the committees she's on
but they aren't listed on her senate page: http://dole.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=IssuesLegislation.CommitteeAssignments

Here's what's listed on her committee assignment page:

Committee Assignments

The document you requested is undergoing maintenance.
Place check back soon for a full update.

Talk about incompetent people in the Senate. :eyes: She can't even get her committee assignments listed.

As for Roberts and our other idiot, Brownback, we know they are worthless but back when we needed help to find qualified candidates and fund them the rest of America wasn't listening to us. We asked for help and never got any. Thankfully, and I credit Dean's DNC, things are changing and they are changing fast. For example, we have GOP'ers leaving the party - and doing it publicly. Here's just a recent example:

GOP official quits in support dustup
By STEVE KRASKE
The Kansas City Star

The Johnson County Republican chairman has demanded that Mark Parkinson resign as a GOP precinct committeeman because of his support for a Democrat for Kansas attorney general.

Parkinson shot back that he already had done just that.

Parkinson announced Monday that he was backing Democrat Paul Morrison for attorney general. Morrison had been a Republican but switched parties to take on GOP Attorney General Phill Kline.

**

“We know that one of our responsibilities is to support all Republican office holders, and in good conscience we can no longer do that,” Parkinson said in the e-mail.

So, we're working hard on the ground here and it's working. The red state GOP'ers are seeing their party has left them. We anticipated this meltdown and in preparation for it (and with DNC money) late last year the state party went into action. They're working closely with the county chairs. This is new because we finally have the state party's office open all year round. Each county has solid Democratic chairs in place and the canvassers have been working their asses off walking the precincts, getting names of volunteers for later this year (are they willing to have yard signs, make phone calls, etc.).

How's your state doing?

So, a Senator can't be removed even if found guilty of a crime?

7. He can be expelled from the Senate
You're right. My bad.

However, that is a vote of the Senate. The voters in his state only have a say about it every six years.

8. I think Senators and Representatives actually can be impeached.
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 12:13 AM by Independent_Liberal
Any member of Congress can lead a charge against anybody in the Government. The President, Vice President, Senators, Representatives, Judges, and any head of a department in the Executive Branch. I think only staff people and aides can't be impeached, but they can be indicted. Am I right on that? I know state legislators can be court ordered out of office. Does the same apply to Federal Representatives?

23. If this is the case, then maybe Rockefeller needs to bring up the point.
Maybe...just maybe it's time for Democratic Senators and House members to "balls to the wall" and threaten impeachment based upon subversion of the Constitution.

It's one thing to lick Bush's boots, but it's another to do it while simultaneously destroying our democratic freedoms. In some ways he's worse than Chimp.

26. Senators & Congressment
cannot be impeached or recalled.

The only way they can be removed before their term ends is 1) Resign, or 2) 2/3 vote of the chamber where they are a member.

did, after he broke the law. There is rubberstamping everything he does, that is one thing-- but to now create legislation for him because he committed a crime so he can be right is just more outrageous!
