David Mamet's The Unit (CBS) makes following law look foolish
Did anyone see The Unit last night on CBS ? If I'm not mistaken, the Delta Force it protrays appears to operate without any overall control. Also, in future episodes, we can expect the "Col." to be boinking his underlings wives, while they're away on missions. His version of 'undercover' ops, tongue-in-cheek.

Any opinions ? Is this part of the CIA's Operation Hollywood/propaganda effort to get us all rah-rah over Iraq ? The timing, especially since other (ABC) shows of this nature, Threat Matrix etc. bombed, is interesting.

1. What?
And miss "House"?

Or "Boston Legal"?

I'm so sick of these "undercover heroes" bullshit stories.

Give me Hugh Laurie and rich, sharp wit and smarts every time.

Denny Crane, too.

I just cannot believe it is on FOX! They do have a couple of excellent shows, dammit.

10. I know
To wit (ahem): "Arrested Development."

I read that it's going to be picked up by Showtime, but I've been watching AD from the beginning on DVD, via Netflix. That show is also genius.

Fox, indeed.

By the way, no new "House" for THREE DAMN WEEKS!!!!

18. I was also pissed off when I heard that! Very annoying of themto do that
to us. They show repeats on USA at 11PM EST Fridays, if you need a fix in the meantime.

19. I bought the first season DVD,
but, I also checked the House website - I'm SO hooked - and the word there is that, starting March 28 - be still, my throbbing heart - there will be EIGHT NEW EPISODES IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!

<swoon>

By the way, I urge you to rent the DVDs of the first season - you'll be amazed at how different the show is without commercial breaks, and you'll see and hear things you missed on TV. I was stunned at how different - how much better - it is.

I love House.

2. Didn;t see it, but if it's David Mamet is're probably cynical to the core
His stock in trade seems to be the corruption of individuals and systems.

really on FOX? Leland Palmer rules!

The whole sendup of Bush/Cheney this year has been great. The praying while sending the Premiere and wives to be killed was great.

14. Circumventing the law along with the VP being in charge. I also like
how they have the uber patriots trying to start a war to spread democracy and freedom. I am surprised Sean, Rush, Ingram, and Faux have not started a boycott of their own company???

4. I didn't watch. I didn't realize it was about Delta Force. I pass by the
Delta Force area everyday on the way to work. I also didn't realize it was by David Mamet. Now I wish I had watched it.

I would hope it follows the themes of his other works about corruption and deceit, but it IS television, so I bet even if it starts out that way it will end up RAH-RAH.

11. The main 'theme' was all other agencies (FBI etc) are idiots and
when DeltaForce comes in, as the super-secret infallible group, well, everybody else simple step aside. In real life these groups will end up fighting eachother and the public will be screwed. BTW, the only Delta Force operation I'm aware of so far that was a total success was Linda Tripp (a DF secretary) and her role in bringing down a fairly decent President. Go figure.

16. The worst show I have ever seen
I was laughing out loud. This could become a cult fave. I loved when the lead guy tells his boss that if he gets in his way, he'll blow the boss's head off. Then they storm a hijacked plane and no one except the hijackers gets hurt. With Star-Trek level acting, this could be boffo for the ironic.
