Tweety Wants Bush To Divorce Cheney (But Why?)
Source to Matthews: From The Moment Cheney Was Elected “All He Wanted To Know About” Was Iraq

Yesterday on Hardball, Chris Matthews revealed that a well-placed source told him Cheney was set on invading Iraq as soon as he was elected Vice President.

Transcript:

Let me not let one guy off the hook here, that’s Cheney, Bob. I talked to someone last night who knows better about this than anybody — off the record — who told me the first thing Cheney wanted when he got the vice presidency, during the transition of 2000, what he wanted was not a briefing on the world, all he wanted to know about, where do we stand in Iraq? He was keyed on that decision from day one, long before 9-11, and it certainly looks like these guys weren’t surprised by the decision to go to Iraq. They had it in their mind ahead of time.

While Matthews didn’t name his source, former administration officials also claim plans to invade Iraq preceeded 9/11.

1. This is a real revelation
Seriously though, interesting focus. More and more Republicans and their allies in the media are openly trying to figure out a way to run away from Iraq.

23. Simply put, but very true. Tweety's GOP brother is running in Pennsylvania
and Tweety needs to keep Bush propped up so his brother can get more votes.

Bush dropping Cheney and replacing him with either McCain or Giuliani is Tweety's goal.

Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 11:02 AM by sam sarrha
there was a little blip on the news that they found daily memos from Cheney telling Faux what to say about the latest Iraq problem and how to keep reinforcing through out the day with personal comments by the Anchor Whores..

Cheney is clearly the one in charge..

4. I would suggest
that this be viewed in the context of Matthew's concern that Cheney is trying to increase tensions with Iran.

5. Matthews is probably the last person on the planet that

genuinely believes there is any daylight between Bush and Cheney's worldviews.

Even if they don't speak to each other anymore, they were both obsessed with Iraq from the beginning, and Bush and Condi have made as much noise about Iran as Cheney has.

8. I disagree.
Matthews is smart enough to recognize there is no serious comparison between Bush and Cheney's views on Iraq, especially going back before 2000.

9. Are you saying that Cheney was more interested in an Iraq invasion
than Bush?

Sorry, having a hard time parsing your "no serious comparison" comment. Just not sure what you mean by it.

And I'm not sure what Bush's comments were on the matter before 2000, but considering that his MO when he came in was, "Do the opposite of what Clinton did and out-flank Dad on the right," it seems obvious that he would want to finish the job on Saddam, which he clearly was giddy about after 2000.

14. Cheney has been
involved in the neoconservative group that was focused on Iraq since the first Gulf War. There is no evidence that George W. Bush gave any serious thought to foreign affairs before his run for the presidency. The neoconservatives selected Bush as the vehicle that would allow them the ability to reach their goal of invading Iraq because of his personality type, including his being a blank slate on foreign affairs. Thus, it would be accurate to say that there is no serious comparison between Cheney and Bush in terms of Iraq from 1991-1999.

15. Except the fact that Bush is his father's son.
I find it hard to believe that Bush was willfully ignorant of Iraq considering the role it played in his father's White House, which he visited regularly and reportedly considered too moderate for his tastes.

Not to say that he was in Cheney's league, because he clearly never was (and still isn't), but I don't think that stopped him from agreeing with him.

22. The neoconservatives
were fully aware that the son would be easily convinced to invade Iraq, because of the issues of {a} wanting to have bigger balls than his dad, and {b} "that's the guy who threatened my dad." Bush's frustration that dad was in WW2 (he even has been quoted as saying he wishes he were a WW2 vet) while he was the kid who took advantage of his social class to avoid the Vietnam war, and his reckless, aggressive, and often cruel personality, played a significant role in the neocons identifying him as a vehicle to achieve their goals. Still, his stunning ignorance of the world and history -- he is without question the most uninformed person ever to be president -- was as appealing of a quality for them. I am not saying he is not responsible for his actions. Surely he is. But, much like Karl Rove and Scooter Libby played distinct roles in the Plame scandal, Bush and Cheney have played distinct roles in the Iraqi war. My point is simply that Chris Matthews is aware of those very real distinctions.

10. Could it be he wants a more "human" vice-president in there, to gather
some "Presidential" credibility prior to the 2008 election?

NO ONE would dream of voting for Cheney, of course. Putting someone else in there next to the pResident would be handing him/her an advantage on the way to the next HUGE!!!1!!1!1 election.

12. No doubt.
Tweety also said last night that the Bush who was not on-the-ball & engaged re:Katrina contrasts with the Bush who is on top of everything & fully engaged with Iraq.

My jaw dropped.

i don't know if you watched that day but it went something like this--tweety with a gop panel and he says something like --"Oh he looks so good in that flight suit, i can understand why women find him attractive" and that was it for me.

20. A lot of news guys seemed to think that Dan Quayle was handsome too
Demonstrating that some men still do not have any clue about the answer to Freud's eternal question: "What do women want?"

In fact, Freud would probably be pretty interested in the reason that some men think women might consider Bush Jr or Quayle to be attractive.

16. Haven't there been numerous reports that both of them wanted to invade?
Is this fresh news? Cheney had out maps of Iraq's oil fields at his secret energy meetings. Bush wanted to invade Iraq immediately after 9-11, despite the fact that none of the hijackers had any connection to Iraq.

Cheney is the prime mover of the administration, but Bush is hardly an innocent patsy along for the ride. They are both up to their necks in innocent blood.

26. They're going to throw him under the rug
and get someone they can run in 2008 to continue their plans. I've heard everyone else say involved that it was Bush who was gungho on entering Iraq.
