11/01/05 - Senate shuts down, promises Phase II of Intel to war

"Today the American people are going to see a little bit of light. On Nov. 14, we're going to have a phase-by-phase idea of how they are going to complete this (investigation), finally," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

The committee will also meet from Tuesday through Friday next week to review staff findings.

Since that date, almost 4 months ago - what have these "leaders" accomplished (both sides)?

  • They've taken vacation at Thanksgiving
  • They've taken vacation at Christmas
  • They've taken vacation at MLK day
  • They've attended fundraisers for their on-going re-election campaigns
  • They've debated how much $$ a lobbyist can spend to buy them dinner
  • They've reauthorized the so called Patriot Act
  • They've confirmed Scalito to the SCOTUS
  • They've passed a budget expanding military spending and cutting programs for seniors, students and anyone else not in the wealthy ruling class
  • They've investigated the Fed screwup in Emergency response when we lost an entire US City
  • They've compromised a deal that makes the 4th Amendment to the Constitution a moot point and gives pass on 'high crimes and misdemeanors' committed and admitted by the President
  • They've debated spending tax dollars to bail out poor corporations who might have asbestos liablity to face
  • They've confirmed a few judges and considered Ambassador positions
  • They've rejected amendments that would give tax relief to veterans, improved access to the people harmed by the great pharmacutical industry's giveaway Medicare program but approved tax breaks for other well heeled individuals and corporations

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION USING INTEL THEY KNEW WAS BAD TO LIE US INTO A WAR KILLING ALMOST 3,000 AMERICAN TROOPS AND SENDING THOUSANDS MORE HOME WITH LOSS OF LIMBS AND WHO KNOWS WHAT KIND OF PHYCOLOGICAL PROBLEMS.

1. Congress doesn't care about this
I feel so overwhelmed by the hopelessness of it all.

2. Too afraid of the arab bogeyman to do anything but worry and
spend more money on bombs and tanks. Before this it was the Russians.

3. I think Roberts killed that ideal. It seems like Reed would do the same
if he was really concerned.
