Pennsylvania Dems should be outraged at Matthews shilling for national GOP
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 01:56 PM by blm
Does anyone think this ramped up shilling of the national GOP figures by Matthews is being done in a vacuum?

Matthews' brother is running for Lt. Governor in Pensylvania and Tweety KNOWS he needs to get national Republicans', Bush's, and the Senate and congressonal GOP leaders' poll numbers up if his brother has any chance at winning in November.

It also likely INCREASES the amount of money that GOP leaders will put into his brother's race if Matthews is solicitous of them on his show.

Pennsylvania Dem party should cry FOUL at the blatant use of broadcast airtime Tweety is given by MSNBC to interfere with their election.

8. I think the PA GOP should be declaring it a campaign contribution
from both MSNBC and Matthews.

Not joking about this thing. It's air time to shill for them and if it's done for "free", so to speak, then it should be listed as a campaign contribution at fair market value.

20. And that is why I don't watch any of it, anymore, not even to see what the
other side is doing. I get my information from the print media on the internet. That way I can concentrate on what's important news and not have to be subjected to listening to the latest missing white girl news items while I strain to hear just a drop of real news. No sir! No more!

I do hope that adverstisers on these networks take note. I used to have the news on all day, so they aren't reaching me anymore with their ads and I'm not alone. There are many of us who have dropped out from the TeeVee news.

Perhaps he was supporting Maria, but what the hell was her problem anyway? She didn't want him to run and yet she didn't firmly plant her foot down, NOOOO!

in California covered it more. I wouldn't call it stumping as much as supporting by being in places where Arnold was campaigning.

19. The Smerkonich guy on his show...
He has that Michael Smerkonich (sp) guy on almost every other day and Smerkonich is a RW talker in Philadelphia. Is it just accidental that suddenly, as Tweety's brother is in a political race, that he starts having a RW talker from Philly (who undoubtedly shills for Tweety Jr.) every other fucking day?

Can Philadelphians confirm to me that Smerkonich talks about Tweety Jr. on the show? That Philadelphia bonding thing on tonight's show was a bit much. Jesus. He didn't let anyone else finish an answer and just kept feeding Smerkonich question after question.....

28. The Democratic Governor of PA has Republicans working for him
in staff positions and when we progressives in the committees complained we got shit.

We get anti-choice, pro war candidates like Casey foisted upon us because they want to run a milquetoast moderate against Santorum....

The PA Democratic Party has it's collective head up its ass.

When they ran Klenk against Santorum last time, they didn't even have a campaign for him in the Eastern part of the State and Rick won by 6 lousy points. When I asked a fund raiser why there was no Dem campaign, he told me klenk couldn't win. another liar.

32. Klink was a well known newscaster in the Westerm Part of the state
he held Melissa Hart's current seat. He left that seat which in essence gave Melissa her opportunity to take it for the repukes.

Klink was very much like Casey...he and pRick were about equal on a ton of issues (just like Casey is..)...and he couldn't get a lot of groups to help him...and Eastern PA didn't know him.....he also got really nasty with Dem leaders and would bad mouth them...(his stupidity)...and then after he lost he basically went home to nurse his wounds and then has endorsed some republicans...(oh ain't that sweet)...

Once again when we try to out-republican the republicans...the Democrats lose...

We need to move back to our progressive roots.

and that's just unacceptable IMHO.

There were lots of excellent liberals running in the Dem primary. They canceled each other out and we got conservative Klink.

30. Smerconish is a fourth-rate asshole in a city
filled with moran-sounding rabble-rousers.

Believe me, I've lived in Philly for over 50 years and there has always been this 'populist' racist-overtone crowd, very sanctimonious, bunch of stupid bastards who appear on the local radio and Sunday TV shows. They are usually white lawyers who are connected to certain business interests in this typically Dem town. Fact of the matter is that we're a series of neighborhoods connected by annexation over the years, and there's lots and lots of racial undertones pervading everything here. These idiots appeal to the 'Two Streeter' mentality wich is pervasive in the Blue-collar white neighborhoods. It's pretty rough here, no matter what the national folks may say.

Smerconish is a sanctimonious putz who's proud of being a shot-and-a-beer type guy. Except he's not...he's a hypocrite on the order of that Jay Severin moran. He'll never quite measure up (or down) to his 'accomplishments'. Nobody drinks beer with him...he's way too effete.

35. Sounds like you know Smerconish too
I actually had to work with that camera chasing "LOOK AT ME! I'M SO COOL!" putz. After all these years still nobody either knows or cares who the hell he is. Like most of the highbrow attorneys in Philly, his minions have to hold his hand and diaper his ass about EVERYTHING. Although he is generally more curtious then others once he recognizes that he doesn't intimidate you. I only had to tell him to bite my ass once... after that he was easier to deal with. And he's got that handwashing thing... germaphobic maybe?

34. No doubt bubba Matthews is a factor
in Chris' babbling and rants. His antics where he interrupts people and gives a dissertation on His point of view and brilliance on the subject could be obvious to those watching. I'm prejudice but surely the masses can pick this up.

Yup, Pennsylvanians are (appear) to be smart enough to figure this one out.
