For the 3rd anniversary of the Iraqi invasion, I have been putting together a blog-exhibit called "faded yellow magnets." Here's a quick description:
Faded Yellow Ribbon Magnets.In commemoration of this event, for the next three weeks I will be posting pictures of faded yellow ribbon magnets on vehicles in my community. The license plates will be photoshoped out to protect the privacy of the owners; and in fairness, I will randomly chose a day to post my own car.
<snip>
I am not posting these pictures as a condemnation of people who want to show support for the troops. The purpose of this series is to respectfully remind Americans how much time has passed since the invasion on Iraq. I'm sure I speak for everyone with a magnet on their vehicle, when I say that our respect for the military and their families will never fade.
The project is now in it's first week, and I realized I have a problem: It's been very easy to get pictures of faded yellow magnets with pro-war or Christan themes... but I would love to get a few shots of faded magnets with an anti-war message. (i.e. A faded magnet next to a "Give Peace A Chance" bumper sticker.)
The reason this exhibit needs pictures like this is because I don't want the project to satirize people who support the war. I remember several threads on DU back in 2003 where it was discussed if the Yellow magnets were signs of support for the war. The general consensus was that they were not.
So if you have a vehicle with a faded yellow magnet next to a pro-peace bumper-sticker... will you please email it to me? I will photoshop out the license plate and you can remain anonymous if you'd like.
Here is an example of what I'm looking for:
Remember:
The magnet must be faded.Email photos to: brainshrub a-t gmail dot com.
Thank you.
Please keep this kicked or nominated.
P.S.: I am also looking for a yellow magnet on a Hummer. Preferably next to a Bush/Cheney '04 bumper sticker. In this last case, it does NOT have to be faded.
