How hard would it be to militarily control an area the size of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida put together? Would you need a draft???
An Iranian War would be no Iraq War. They actually have a military. Remember that Iraq had been under military sanctions for 10 years when we invaded them. All reports indicate that Iran is AT WORST 10 years away from being able to make a nuclear bomb. So why the intense rush by the US to stop them? On March 20th Iran moves all of its oil money out of the US dollar and into the Euro. Uh oh! You know Iraq did the same thing within months of us invading them (moving their oil money from US dollars to the Euro). Many have speculated that was the real reason why we invaded Iraq since we have seen that the original reasons (WMD) were well known to not exist within the administration before we invaded.
I can’t overlook the fact that the Dubai Ports World deal was “classified” according to Chertoff. Look at the map, what port is directly located next to Iran? I think it is possible that part of the deal was to let US forces have use of this area “in case” there is a US/Iran War.
Don’t get me wrong. I cannot stand the current administration in Iran. The president of Iran right now is pretty insane, but I would say only a little more insane and on the other side of our president. Just as Iraq, the country, was not our enemy, Iran, the country, is not either. Rather the leaders of those countries are leading their countries in the wrong direction. However, dislike for a country’s leader does not justify a war of aggression. Europe did not invade Germany to get Hitler until after Hitler had invaded them. That is why we don’t start wars of aggression, because it makes us look like Hitler whether the comparison is accurate or not.
Anyway, we must all realize exactly what we are getting into with this next one as I am fairly convinced it will happen. Iran is in talks with Russia to stop producing uranium (for energy, not nukes, by the way) but the US wants to stop trying to find a compromise. Iran wants to produce uranium so that they can have nuclear reactors for energy for their population. They think it is important for them to control the means of where the energy is coming from, but Russia is trying to get them to let them use Russian uranium and that way they can only get what we give them and it won’t be used for nukes. This seems like a good compromise to me, it accomplishes both goals. No nukes for Iran and they still get nuclear energy. But again, the US is trying to stop this deal. That is the scariest part. It really seems to have nothing to do with WMD at all. Last time at least we could claim that we were doing it because of the WMD (even if it wasn’t true), but this time we are actively trying to stop a deal from being made. The news papers have been confusing everything just like they did before the Iraq War. They say “Iran wants to make nuclear material”, but make it sound like it is for nukes, not energy. This is what propaganda is made of. While it is still possible that Iran wants to make a nuke, they will not be able to with the Russian deal… problem solved and no war.
Why would the US administration want this war? Wouldn’t it just end up losing more money in taxes than we could get in oil? Yes. But the money would be spent by the tax payers and given to the companies who get to rebuild, just like Iraq. We spend 250 Billion dollars and the companies with RW ties like Halliburton get a 300% raise in profits.
The only way we can stop an Iran war is if we stop it by learning and talking about what is really going on NOW instead of after the war.
