House Impeachment Support Growing

House Impeachment Support Growing

A growing number of House Democrats now favor holding an impeaching inquiry into alleged official misconduct by President Bush - and more than a dozen congressional candidates are running this fall on a pledge to vote for an impeachment investigation if they get elected.

And if that happens, says Newsweek's Howard Fineman, its Katie bar the door:

"The '06 election is going to be about subpoena power," he told radio host Don Imus on Wednesday. "It's going to be about whether the Democrats take control of one chamber of Congress. Then they'll get subpoena power back."

Fineman predicts: "They're going to investigate the hell out of how the decision to go to Iraq happened all over again."

And while the heartland would undoubtedly recoil from any move to impeach a second American president in a row, in some of country's deepest blue states, support for just such a move is building.

Yeah, 'cause, y'know, they were so against impeaching Clinton. And c'mon, it's not as if Bush lied about an extramarital affair or something. :sarcasm:

It would be fantastic for Bush to finally be held accountable for at least some of the incompetence and outright deception he's bludgeoned us with for the last five years.

13. Right you are Rob H. While I would not support a witch hunt that ends in
being tried for a BJ. Dim Son admits to high crimes and refuses to quit. Only a Dictator or an INSANE person could be so bole. We should have a hearing to decide if he should be imprisoned or in the hospital for the rest of time.

22. Clinton's job approval was in the mid 60's during the impeachment.
The Chimp's disapproval is in that range now. Furthermore, a majority of Americans now support impeachment, according to the recent polls. He's toast, simple as that.

6. I call Bullshit on Fineman.
The last poll I saw, and it was sometime last year, showed that the majority of the people in this country favored the impeachment of Bush. That included a state by state analysis and I only believe something like two states DID NOT favor his impeachment. This was before Abramoff and before the Ports Deal, but not that long after Katrina. I don't know if there is new data out, but somehow judging by Bush's poll numbers I don't think it's gotten better, if anything it's gotten worse.

I believe Gallop did the polling, but I could be wrong.

28. Vice President Cheney must be Impeached First!
Vice President Cheney must be Impeached First

One of the main reasons the Bush Regime went to a war in Iraq, was because the Democratic Party was neutralized, by the belief that Cheney had the evidence, that Iraq was getting nuclear weapons. Cheney knew there were no such nuclear weapons. Cheney knew the story about Niger 'yellow cake' going to Iraq was a fraud. And yet he pushed that argument, in order to convince the Congress to allow the war to go ahead."

Yet, now that (WMDs) in Iraq to be a fraud, those Democrats who are upset are not targetting Cheney, but going after President Bush instead.

The immediate basis for the impeachment of VP Cheney is the obstruction of justice and coverup carried out by Cheney in the case of the leak of Valerie Plame and exposing and destroying the covert operation of Brewster Jennings, which V. Plame was in charge of. Dick Cheney, acted to cover up and obstruct justice in the search to unearth and prosecute the guilty parties.

The Plame case is not the only example of misconduct by Cheney that requires the Congress impeach him. Cheney has committed a fraud against the nation with his lies on Iraq, and also demonstrated blatant corruption in permitting the multi-billion-dollar ripoffs by his former company Halliburton. The evidence is overwhelming.
