I really did not think DeLay would lose a primary race, but I did not expect him to trample his opponent like he did. I felt my fellow Texans would make a statement and send him bruised and bloodied into the General Election in November to get finished off. I got a mailout from DeLay saying that Democrats were voting in the Republican primary for his opponent. That ain't happening. Crossover Democrats are voting for DeLay. Reason? Well, when Republicans want to raise money, they holler, "Abortion!" or "Flag burning!" or "Consenting adults are doing nasty things in their bedrooms and won't let you watch!" When Democrats want to raise money, they simply say, "Tom DeLay." They don't even have to holler.

Bush was born in Connecticut. As if that makes any difference. Before he became governor here we had the most progressive, beautiful blue governor ever, Ann Richards. What happened meantime I could not say because I moved to another state.

I think this is tedious. To blame the people of a state or geography for a hideous atrocity? Is Austria responsible for Hitler? For now and evermore?

If it makes you feel better to assume that "TEXAS" is to blame for the horrific conditions right now, then maybe you feel better. I think it might be wise to get a clue. "Texas" in and of itself does not create monsters. They show up. What are you going to actually do about it?

Believe me, there are plenty of states whose political nests are absolutely foul right now, including that of my home state of Ohio, the heartland of every whack job Repuke that ever wore a suit and touted a Bible. Thing is, I don't expect Texans (or anyone else) to clean up that mess. I recognize it as a mess and one Ohio got itself into. It will be up to Ohioans to clean it up and I can only thank God the Taft dynasty, unlike that of the Bush Crime Family, appears to be nearing its inglorious reign, so there's no hope of exporting our homegrown nincompoops to Washington.

So I'll leave it to Texans to figure out what the hell has gone wrong in their state and turn things around. Between the whack jobs in Ohio and the repuke takeover in WV, I've got my hands full. But at least the folks I'm fighting with will admit we have a serious problem. That is not intended to insult the thousands of Texans who ARE fighting to right the ship, but to those who refuse to recognize there's something seriously wrong in Texas politics and the rest of us are paying for it.

I don't know how that happened. I was just as mortified as anyone else. 2000? I sat there HORRIFIED! Still am. I appreciate that you see this as a regional issue. I assure you it is not. Maybe it was a master plan. Take Texas, then the nation, then the WORLD! Okay, how is that working out. At least ya'll have Kucinich in Ohio.

Yes, Texas politics is a total freaking mess. They have ruined our public school system. We rank lower and lower every year on every standard for ANYTHING. It didn't used to be this way. But blaming "Texas" is rather like blaming the rape victim for the rape. Not allowed. We got raped. Now the rapist has taken to the bigger world. But "we" did not create him. And we don't like to be blamed for that. We have our share of jewels too. Ann Richards. Molly Ivans. Chris Bell. Many others. All those guys who fought the alamo and got us into the union. You know, history. We are not totally bereft.

The main problem with Texas, as I see it, is there are three churches on every street corner. Too many people buy into the "he is a 'christian', so he must be okay" idea. I don't know how we get rid of that. But if someone figures it out, I'm all for it.

Remember, Texas was also the home of Lloyd Benson. I didn't like him at the time, but now I really do. My congressman for years, Martin Frost, got kicked out of office last election. Why? Because people were breaking the law and drawing lines the way they wanted. And who would that be? Well, DeLay of course! Guess what, he is on trial. Just because we have outlaws doesn't mean they don't get the chance to pay someday. I hope Bush gets his chance to pay. But it isn't just up to Texans. We all have to pull together. So please don't diss my state. I'll follow suit and not diss yours. And don't forget, our Democratic reps ran out of the state in order to avoid Perry's bullshit. They sent homeland security looking for them. We all have our battles. I just hate it when people blame Texas for the maggots.
