So I was on the bus today
getting ready for my trip back to the house. I actually don't mind the time, I use it to read the paper and catch up on things. I was reading an article in today's paper on the murder an mayhem in Iraq. Halfway into the article, I stopped and looked around. There was a woman next to me practically screaming on her new flip cell phone thingee. In front of me a man was sleeping. Across the isle there was another woman starring ahead with the blank expression on her face. There were a couple of teenagers goofing off. There were several people in the back of the bus, all were motionless. I found it odd that I was the only person who was actually reading something.

Where's the outrage?

be in a constant state of outrage.

But, I agree the general sense of outrage over the state of the nation is appallingly lacking.

3. While true, I see it time and time again
I don't see anyone getting outraged, let along talk about these issues. Outside of DU and other venues like so, I don't see ordinary folk challenging what they are being told. Someone once told me that they shouldn't care about Iraq because it's X miles away from us. Why should she care? I almost blew an artery after hearing a comment like that.

So I guess I was trying to illustrate the reaction of ordinary folk. No, they shouldn't be screaming at each other but no one even talks about it because it doesn't affect their personal lives.

5. It's a process
I told a friend at work today about Loose Change and she asked for a link so she could watch it.

I planted a seed. But it takes time for it to grow.

We must take it upon ourselves to educate the masses since our wonderful "liberal medial" has taken a long vacation.

Thanks proud2Blib.

BTW, what was your co-worker's reaction?

8. She seemed interested
She is a young girl - 29 years old - married to a rabid koolaid drinker. It is her second marriage and she is seriously considering leaving him. They have been arguing about church. She wants to join a Methodist church and he is Catholic and is insisting she convert to his faith. It is really sad. We are very good friends and she definitely leans left. She is interested in seeing many issues from my point of view since she has to listen to his 'bush worshipping talking points' (that's what she calls it - LOL) at home. So I get to plant little seeds with her almost every day.

Yesterday I invited her to our big anti-war rally on March 19. She seems interested. :woohoo:

9. That's awesome!
I have some "born-agains" in the family so I'm all too familiar with the "Bush worshiping talking points" (would she mind if I used that???) and the constant conversion pep-talks. :puke:!!!!!!!

Your story gives me hope. I'm compelled to plant seeds too.

Thanks for sharing proud2Blib!

7. I live in Texas.
Every one in my part of Texas acts like these are the best times they have ever lived in. I used to have some pro-Democrat/ anti-* stickers on my vehicle but took them off.

10. That's so sad
My uncle had some anti-Bush Inc bumper stickers and got flipped off more than a few times. He still keeps them on though and puts up with it. This is a scary time we live in. Whatever happens will affect us all, not just liberals / conservatives.

Welcome to DU Moody Bluz!

12. The reason I took them off is...
because I ride a motorcycle. It is my primary vehicle since my car is on the verge of giving up the ghost at any moment. I use it to go buy groceries or get stuff I can't carry on my bike. My 400 pound sportbike is no match for the big pick-up trucks and SUVs that are the principle modes of transport around here should someone get really offended and try to bump me.

The two worst times I have had in my life involved falling off of moving motorcycles at highway speeds. I really don't want it to happen again.

16. You know, I would.
But both my parents are elderly and they have lived here for 50 years. I have no brothers or sisters so I stay around to watch over them.

17. I live in Texas as well,
infact, yesterday an extremely ignorant and stubborn kid in my class told me that he thought George Bush should run for president for a third term. The poor kid didn't even realize that presidents could only have two. But this is the same kid that tried to debate with me about our current administration, and had nothing to say except "Well, liberals are going to cause the next world war...and you don't like bush just because its the popular thing to do!"
so, I gave up on that argument.
Because I am not going to waste my time arguing with a kid who doesn't even know whats going on.
But I posted the Loose Change video on my webpage, and I have planted "many seeds" (as one of you said up there) and most of my friends are actually interested in it. So, that is a good sign
:D

11. there was a time when farmers with only elementary level education
and lots of hard work out in the farm, would find the time to sit down and read the newspaper, and stay informed, and have a voice in his country's affairs.

That time has long gone. The farmer had roots, and was firmly planted on his soil, and maybe that made him care for the soil of his nation. But then industrialization, and the up rootedness that followed, and further disconnect from soil and family occurred with each passing generation ... and all of that seems to have brought about a psychology (and perhaps a politics as well) of greed and narcissism .. and the country took second place, or perhaps we were all too complacent in the Blessings and Benefits of living in these U.S.A ... but now the Bushes have taken over, and you are right, it is time for the entire nation to outrage about the bushes, their goons, and the politicians who don't give a hoot about America but give a lot of hoots about their positions of power and their greedy pockets.

13. Motion Sickness
Many people - like me, for instance - can't read on a moving vehicle without getting so sick they vomit. The stench from the bus fumes were enough to make me pretty queasy; I had no wish to make it worse by reading so much as a headline while on the stinkmobile.

I stopped taking the bus about 12 years ago (my brother got me a car because he was worried about the frequency at which assholes attempted to mug or abduct me), so while you're reading on the bus, you may not notice me swearing at the radio while I'm driving.
