Woman arrested after fake bomb found
MIRA LOMA - A 40-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after admitting to sheriff's deputies that she placed a fake bomb in her freezer.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a possible pipe bomb at a home in the 8100 block of Mission Boulevard, a sheriff's statement said.
Upon arrival, they found a 15-year-old boy home alone. They then located the device in the home's freezer. The device was described as three cylinders taped together, with four wires and an attached clock timer.
Jamie Newman arrived and told deputies that her older son made the fake bomb and she placed it in the freezer as a hoax.
She was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, being under the influence and possession of a hoax device, the statement said.
