The M$M is complicit *again*...this time about Iran!
How many articles have we seen in the last 24 hours stating that Iran will inflict "harm and pain" on the US?

I've lost count of the articles and the TV reports.

When did the Iranians threaten actual "harm and pain"?? NEVER!

Here's what was said:

"The United States has the power to cause harm and pain," Ali Asghar Soltanieh, the chief Iranian delegate to the IAEA, said, reading from a statement. "But the United States is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if that is the path that the U.S. wishes to choose, let the ball roll."

How did "susceptible" translate into "inflict"?

:banghead:

1. MSM wants a war with Iran almost as much as * does. B/c of ratings for
the traditional First Night of Bombing, 24/7 coverage with repeated videos of the fireworks.

7. First Night of Bombing is my favorite holiday of the year
Rather than a big party, I always have a small get together with my closest friends and family. We eat and make merry and reflect on what's happened to us over the year, then we all watch the fireworks and think about how Gawd has blessed us with the most powerul smart bombs. He must want us to take over the world.

:sarcasm:

2. Meanwhile Rumsfeld is out there blaming the mess in Iraq on Media
coverage. Sickest administration to ever be placed in the WH.

9. I'm sorry. I saw M$M and it registered in my brain as MSNBC ... LOL!
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 11:34 AM by BattyDem
The brain isn't functioning all that well today.

Anyway, MSNBC (and all of the NBC networks) are complicit because of their own financial interests.
Doesn't Westinghouse (another defense contractor) own CBS? I remember reading that somewhere. Does anyone know for sure?

Does anyone know if the other media companies have ties to defense comtracts or will somehow profit from a war?

edited for clarity ... like I said, the brain isn't functioning today.

10. I believe that was true at one point, not sure about now.
And look at CNN. Saudis own something like 3-4% voting stake?

ABC is owned by Disney and well know where Michael Eisner stands.

12. Yes, GE owns a controlling share of MSNBC
CNN, FAUX and CBS are all owned by multi-national media/internet conglomerates.

ABC is owned by Disney.

5. The US threatened them with harm and pain first. It's going to be
Iraq all over again and MSM is a culpable as the other Bushbots.

11. and some Dems are on board, too
Clinton has been blasting the White House for being 'soft' on Iran - and so people like Bolton and Cheney worked hard to ratchet the rhetoric up a bit. It looks like she's trying to create a game along the lines of 'Who lost China?' with Iran, so the WH doesn't want to get caught short on war-mongering.

Dubai threat to hit back

Dubai is threatening retaliation against American strategic and commercial interests if Washington blocks its $6.8 billion takeover of operations at several U.S. ports.

As the House Appropriations Committee yesterday marked up legislation to kill Dubai Ports World’s acquisition of Britain’s Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation (P&O), the emirate let it be known that it is preparing to hit back hard if necessary.

A source close to the deal said members of Dubai’s royal family are furious at the hostility both Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill have shown toward the deal.

“They’re saying, ‘All we’ve done for you guys, all our purchases, we’ll stop it, we’ll just yank it,’” the source said.
