Part of it looks like our moon (pock marked) but a large portion of it looks much more recently surfaced (no pock marks), and the false color they've used to enhance its features gives it an eery blue aura. I'm not sure what it's real color is. It doesn't look terribly life-like, but who knows?

I am suddenly hit with a pang of sorrow for humankind, searching everywhere for creatures like ourselves, and finding only dead rocks or freezing giants or gaseous infernos. We just want some buddies--someone to make us feel less lonely in the humongously huge, numbers-that-are-mind-boggling universe--and aren't having any luck despite strenuous efforts (from our point of view). But I think we will some day be very surprised at what's out there. The evidence is mounting that conditions for biological life are quite common. The odds have gone way, way up, in recent years, for there being other sentient species in our galaxy and in the other (humongously numerous) galaxies in the cosmos, all quite out of our reach for the moment, but who knows?

Let's hope that, despite global warming and the Bush junta, there will be someone here left to greet them, when they find us, or that, despite our perfidy and our handicaps, we will actually travel to other communities of life out among the stars some day and say hello.
