3. More desperation...
They are using the Patriot Act to monitor the sale of certain cold medications because of the explosion of Meth labs and Meth use....

Wouldn't it be easier to give states the money and let them hire personell and get equipment to fight it on a local basis?

10. You would think
Our governor here in Tn has been fighting meth labs. They now have it to where any medicine that can be used in making meth is now behind the counter and you have to have a subscription. Of course that's just one example.

"we're at war." War with whom? All they say is "the enemy" but who is the enemy?

The reason my area is deemed high risk is due to "drug trafficking". We do have a big meth problem in Missouri, but I doubt there are many terrorists.

They will use ANY EXCUSE to infiltrate our private lives under this act.

I think I will feel safe in a blue state.. Sounds paranoid, but better paranoid than left in Texas... I would not put it past them to make us stay in our states at some point....

22. That has crossed my mind....
If it keeps going I think the country will split into a Blue USA and a Red USA. Call me crazy but our ideals and hopes have moved to polar opposites and they will never be reconciled....I would actually prefer this so people who like us are free thinking, care about our fellow man, and want the world to be a better place can progress towards those goals!

17. They already are- -
Saw this on BatCop yesterday.
----------------------------------------
Pay too much, Feds get Involved
Bush is crazier than you think

Excerpt:
The balance at JCPenney had gotten to an unhealthy level.
So they sent in a large payment, a check for $6,522.
The check had arrived, but the amount on their account hadn't changed.

They were told that the amount they had sent in was much larger than their normal monthly payment.
And if the increase hits a certain percentage higher than normal, Homeland Security has to be notified.
And the money doesn't move until the threat alert is lifted.

Walter made some inquiries and found out about the Bank Privacy Act.

BartCop:
So, the "Bank Privacy Act" means Bush is all in your business - again?
The government investigates you if you write a check for $6500?
Is this another "secret law" that nobody knows about?

I'm so old, I remember when the GOP was about "less government,"
but that was before they traded their souls for Der Monkey's "jenius."

C'mon, GOP - you're going to have to stop this madman sooner or later.

19. When I worked at the bank it used to be anything
over 10,000.00 in cash, apparently that amount has decreased and not only do banks but all cc cards report these amount, maybe even mortgage companies as well...

They probably have dropped the amount to 5,000.00 dollar flag or something like that...

Sad shit isn't it?

21. Why do you think it was voted on so soon after 9/11? Do you think
they drafted this horror of a set of laws overnight?

Hell no!. They ALWAYS wanted this stuff for the drug war.

The drug war has been the best way to strip us of our civil rights the oligarchy has ever discovered. Hell, some of us who are parents who want our kids to grow up drug free even supported it. There's nothing like having people chain themselves!

Aristocrats hate power residing with the people. They came up with this stuff a very long time ago. They were just waiting to scare Congress into passing it.

23. The Patriot Act was ALWAYS about drugs.
If you read the fine print, it's clear that they wanted to destroy the 4th Amendment.

The section on delaying the execution of a warrant basically says that a person can be searched without their knowledge for SUSPICION OF ANY CRIME.

Not reasonable suspicion, not probable cause. They can search your home for any reason at all.
