Poll question: Which of these cities would you like to have hold '08 convention?
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 05:52 PM by WI_DEM
These are the cities which have submitted bids. If you were on the committee to make the decision which of these cities would you choose to hold the Democratic Convention Aug. 25-28 2008?

2. My head says Dallas 'cause I could possibly attend if I got an invitation
but my heart knows that NOLA needs it so badly.

4. New Orleans, beyond a doubt
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 05:54 PM by IanDB1
Then again, the GOP managed to exploit New York for its 9-11 value, even though Bush is the one who may as well have dropped the planes on them, so maybe the REPUBLICANS will have their convention in New Orleans?

And New Orleans will be managed by Dubai?

7. I think the dems missed a great opportunity in not holding our '04
convention in Florida to capitalize on the 2000 election fiasco.

20. I'm thinking, just to make a point about who has answers and solutions,
the DEMS could make their own lunch and co-op on supper. Do an improvised camp out, with fun, style and grace. Show the GOP how one goes about bringing resources INTO the city and sharing with purpose for building hope.

Hell, I'd take my camp stove, tent and help cook. Maybe some of you lovely LA Ladies would give me some pointers for tasty twists on the menue! ;)

10. NOLA
Without question.

Both parties should hold their '08 conventions in New Orleans, the way they both used to hold their conventions in Chicago...

11. NOLA for sure!
Bring back what these bastards have taken from us. Louisiana is radically different from top to bottom, not just in NOLA.
My homestate deserves it more than anywhere else.

13. It's an interesting question
On the one hand, the cash that a city gets during what, for some municipalities, is a sleepy month, is good for the city, on the other hand, the initial outlay in terms of overtime for cops and the strain on services can be challenging. NOLA could use the influx of cash, but damn, it is hot down there in August...

Then, there's the idea of taking the flag to the lion's den; so perhaps a strong showing in TX, Bushland, or some other red state might not be a bad idea either.

It would be helpful, I think, to see the proposal packages. Does anyone know when they were submitted?

16. I'm not so sure
I think Virginia has been trending bluer. Also LA has lost alot of African-American population.

17. San Antonio
Take the message to Texas, the chimp home state. And San Antonio is a great, blue town (for those who have never had the opportunity to visit).

We're liberal here and we great coffee. If you have the convention in August there's a good chance that it won't rain!
