Brian Willisms on NBC crucifying Bush
on one story after another. Williams, Gregory and Russert all talking about how this port deal was very bad for Bush AND the Republicans. Next up - spying on protest groups - the Pentagon just had to admit it was doing it, and take the names out of the database. Then, talk went to Iraq, where they showed bombed out cars and talked about how many dead today, and how we had planned to start removing soldiers this month, but must delay now. They also showed the commmittee today with Gen. Abizaid, who was NOT being positive about the Iraq war, and showed Sen. Durbin asking why, if the Iraqi army is so good, we can NOT bring our troops home yet??
Last I saw, they were talking about the return of the Taliban to Afghanistan, and how Afghanistan is worse than at any time since we attacked.

My heart aches for our soldiers stuck over there, and for the Iraqi people, but it was good to see our reporters doing their jobs.

I guess NBC decided that the Bush administration is going to cost them more than they will make for NBC.

1. I think Brian Williams does a good job
I know people think he leans right, but right from the start, when he took over, the stories he has chosen to cover have surprised me (pleasantly) over and over.

3. Russert is getting on board? Things must be changing. Everyone
is welcome but we won't forget how you proclaimed the Clinton administration over when the Monica story broke. I've never heard him use that phrase yet describing the Bush, war criminal.

6. Amazing wasn't it?
A torrent of bad news for bushco. And thanks to Senator Leahy for being a pitbull about the DOD illegal spying on peace groups.

I'm told by a reliable source that Brian Williams does not lean right- for whatever that's worth.

10. Did anyone else catch Brian's slip when he said
Today the administration asked for more money for Iran and Afghanistan. And he didn't correct it, but later when the prerecorded segment started, it was about the administration asking for more money for Iraq and Afghanistan. But I could just picture some guy at the dinner table spooning potatoes on his plate saying, "Huh? What was that? Money for IRAN??"

13. What's the latest on troop numbers?
I've been wary since they added troops before the Iraqi elections, figuring they would make a show of "reducing troop numbers" when they were actually going back to the approximately 138,000 who were there before the elections. So, when you mention removing soldiers, from what number are we talking?
