President Bush dashed in and out of Atlanta on Thursday to praise Gov. Sonny Perdue, raise $1.5 million or so for state Republicans, and signal his neutrality in Georgia's hot race for lieutenant governor.

But Bush heaped his highest praise on Perdue, who is up for re-election, describing him as someone "who's done a heckuva good job as governor of the state."

"He's a fellow who's performed. He's delivered results," the president said, noting the state's current budget surplus and the Georgia economy.
