Does anyone have a link to a good earthquake forum? I've just been checking this site every day or so for about a year. I want to find out if what I'm seeing is abnormal, or just part of a cycle...

but frankly, compared to the rest of the world, North America has been pretty quiet.

I figure if anybody knows about a one-stop-learn-all site about earthquakes, it would be a DU'er :)

8. Lake Tanganyika (sp) is In A Caldera(sp)

and there are more than one so called "super volcanoes" including this lake that are in the South Pacific and on the edge of the Indian Ocean

I have no clue if that is in the range of "normal" activity or not. Try posting it there - maybe some science buffs would have something to say.

Another website that would probably write about this if it was abnormal would be:

If there was an unusual number of earthquakes, somebody on that forum would've noticed it by now. And if you've been watching the earthquake lists every day for a year, that's probably a forum you belong in.

If you were a scientist, you would've been able to determine whether that was an unusual number of earthquakes very easily. Heck, even most non-scientists know how to google "earthquake statistics".

fairly standard plate boundary interaction to me. i'm a geologist, not a seismologist, so take that for what it's worth. lots of small quakes beat the heck out of all of that strain building up into one large one.

The Andaman Islands are so active, I had to look it up.

They appear to be aftershocks from the Tsunami. :shrug:
That could explain why that part of the world has been so active.
