Unfortunately, we have to wait 8 months to vote
I have no doubt that if the elections were held today that Democrats would make big gains in Congress, but we have to wait 8 months to vote. 8 months is a long time for the other side to play dirty tricks or whip up some kind of hysteria to sway the American people. The American people are child like and very impressionable. The Republicans have one advantage that the Democrats don't: the government. That gives them the tools to play a lot more dirty tricks than the Democrats can.

1. I agree.
The Dems would make major gains. Unfortunately, Americans vote at regularly scheduled intervals only, and not when it would benefit one side or the other.

The Repukes do have plenty of time to recover, and I'm sure they will to some degree, even without dirty tricks.

But the Dems biggest enemy is themselves. The American people are child like and very impressionable. Yep, that attitude and kind of thinking is going to bring them over to the Dems in herds.:sarcasm: Two reasons. First, it just plain pisses them off. As that kind of smarmy thinking would you or me. Second, and far more important, in my view, Thinking that the voters are sheeple that can be manipulated by a new choice of words, "framing", or putting the issues in religious terms, or other forms of manipulation prevents us from addressing their real concerns. We may not think that the concerns are serious. But they do. And they won't be distracted from them. Their issues must be addressed. Education is the key.

2. Well yes
The bad news for the Republicans might have peaked to early. Or the various stories going on right now will continue to grow throughout the year. Some of them seem to still have plenty of potential (particularly Abramoff).

3. 8 LONG months to
piss off their base!

From and Reed and the enabling voters in congress will work OVERTIME
to ensure that the rank and file will NOT be invigorated.

5. 8 months to get offline and start working in our communities
to make sure people get out and vote in November.

4. We're riding high now, but
then we have Shark Attack/Natalee Holloway/fill-in-the-blank-missing-blonde-girl season, and then 9/11 season to contend with . . .
